We've always had the understanding that this can't be done unless the player in question has played more, or the same amount of games in the lower grade. In finals, if all grades Are in finals, players not selected in the a grade can play in any grade.

That was my "gut feel" as well, but I couldnt find the exact rules on it. Would be interesting to know for sure

I would have thought the rule (if there is one) would be black and white and how many games they've played in the lower grade, whilst a valid reason in favour of the argument, would be irrelevant..?

Ah, didn't realize that.

I see he got 2 games.
So give it's round 3 in Div 7 this week, we'd expect him to line up against Flinders Uni on Saturday?

That's actually an interesting point. Can someone suspended in an D1 game when it's the last game of the season nominally serve their suspension in one of the Grades that starts before D1?

Nope, as players can only drop one grade at a time too.

How does the dropping one grade at a time rule come into effect in a new season?

If I played A grade last round of 2016, I can play D grade round 1 2017?

Would have thought you could drop multiple grades in the Course of an off-season without dramas?

We've certainly had people end a season in A Grade, only show their face the last Thursday night before Round 1 and start the year in C Grade.

What about in the same season?

I was always under the impression it had to be sequential.

Having said that, I suspect that it frequently occurs that it's not and no one ever gets called up on it.

I know of cases where it has happened. So long as all grades are playing that weekend. When higher grades have a BYE the 50/50 qualification rule comes into it I have always thought

Well if PAOC are lining up their C's in C1 and D's in Div 7 as reported by Jo172, I'd suggest the answer is clearly yes!

Maybe he'd be free to play in D7 but not in D1?

Official answer is NO - his suspension was obtained in D1 and therefore applies to 2 x D1 matches, I think the good folk at reds-land would be well aware of that though ;)

PAC's C1 side from last year would've won games in Div 7. I have no doubt about it.

As I said, top end vs bottom end, sure, I agree, but that's the same across all divisions. Top end of D7 would beat bottom end of D6. Top end of D6 would beat bottom end of D5. Etc.

I think the point that Trader was making was that, overall, C1 is a stronger competition - which is utterly nonsensical when you look at historical results and how teams have performed. He compared PAC of this year to last year, which is folly as we now know, then he inferred that PAC's C's play in C1, which is also not correct.

I rate Trader highly so I suspect he was extracting the proverbial urine.

Where's marbles when you need him!
Hearing rumors of a club who had 6 sides and played D7 last year will be down to 4 sides by next weekend?

Could only be PAOC if it's 6 x sides and they were in Div 7 last year...?

Red Card for a bit of a late hit, no harm done, no reaction from players or crowd, should have been a 25 at most,

Umpire was a bit over the top.

Yeah was just a bit of a head high, maybe a yellow if we're being super strict. Our player had the ball and was therefore obviously in play.

Central United really impressed me, moved the ball pretty well and had some strong bodies. Just lack a bit of fitness. Wouldn't want to be playing them on their deck on a muddy day later in the year.

Ripping bunch of fellas too! Was a good day.
