Last race meet for Greg Miles tomorrow. Great career and will be missed.

I personally think Darren McCauley is the best caller in Australia but Greg Miles is an easy second in my books.

Really annoys me (and I know I am speaking thru my pocket) when horses are vetted at the start and allowed to run and end up getting eased out of the race. Last race at Oakbank, horse goes nuts in gates next to favourite Icelandic Star, ends up getting scratched. Vet checks the favourite and allows it to run, it was gone before the bend before jockey eases it out of race. Where is the accountability of the Vet for these sort of decisions?

How can a vet diagnose a horse that is mentally shot in 60 seconds or less? Its like a footballer copping a jumper punch or two and a stinging sledge early in the first quarter.......physically he might be fine but mentally it is game over :?

No different to seeing the nag in the mounting yard with sweat pouring off it. Game over before it even gets to the gate!

A group of us went to Oakbank yesterday and it certainly is a picnic meet. For some of us who wanted a punt in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, it was almost impossible to organise. We set up at the 600m mark.

The UBET tent int he middle of the track had all the screens on the tote but not one on Sky channel. The only TV we could find was a little one at the tote near the home straight.

The "big" screen was after the post and impossible to see where we were.

There was no audio of anything other than the local meet.

All up, we had a good day but I found it a bit frustrating not being able to see the other races on tv without having a huge hike.

Do yourself a favour and go to the Clare Easter race meet. Went there a few years back and in my opinion was a shit load better than Oakbank.

We used to go up there 10 years ago. I handed in my 'resignation' from going up there after they said did away with the big screen past the post. We had 2 32 inch TVs that 5000 people gathered around to watch the races. I complained to them and they said they did it to conserve money. Obviously they've got it back which is great.

I had some of my best Easter's up there, awesome!

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttt, my mates' horse just won at Balak. Paid 44 on the tote and I didn't have a cent on it.

He got it at 41 and then again at 83's. It was its first run and looked a decent mid field chance from barrier 17. Little did I realise!
