Adelaide Crows 2017

Talk on the national game

Crows still have to answer the question of whether they can cope with the added heat and pressure in big games. Don't think that can be answered til finals time. Looking great now, but the other legit contenders will ramp up their performances by September. Long way to go.

I still lean toward the Dogs and Giants, but plenty can and most likely will change between now and the end.

Agree, while Richmond broke down on Sunday they showed for at least a quarter if you get in their face and not zone off you can restrict them, manic pressure is the answer, who can deliver it will be interesting, possibly the Bullies.

Think it was a big part of why they struggled with Geelong last year. Like you said Richmond halted them for a quarter, but weren't good enough to sustain it, but some others will - The flip side to that though, is that the Crows had a few training drills in previous games, so might have needed the jolt Richmond provided.

we have never had a forward line like we do now though.

Thats whats good about the last couple of years too - a genuinely good brand of footy too.

If teams can restrict our ball movement we could be in strife. A july day where it is belting down against a good contested team will be interesting.

i was at that prelim final against W.C. Mr cousins tore the crows a new one after half time i have never still to this day seen a player run so hard for such long periods whilst getting shite loads of the ball. He must of snorted the old smelling salt in the small bottle and got a rush at half time.OH WAIT IT WASNT SMELLING SALT...

The all out attack is unlikely to win the big finals. GWS, Bulldogs and Geelong will shut them down and have their measure. And of the teams that are not universally seen as a challenger but could give the crows trouble on their day, i think Collingwood can.

Our defence is still premiership standard too (based on the "quadrant" that champion data use)

GWS and Port Adelaide were the other two teams in that quadrant

Oddly enough Port were one of the teams to look semi dangerous against the crows for longer periods. Hawthorn I think was the other side, and of course Richmond did it for a quarter.

At the moment the crows injury list is reasonable, midfield looks full of run and the forwards are functioning.

All looking good at the moment.

Yep, even at 11-0 you still don't know how badly a team might fall away.

Not sure who that suits. Crows have better skills and speedy but brings the more physical side into play for the Roos

Aren't we number one or two in contested ball? Tells me we'd be ok when it comes to the physical side of things?

Yep you are right but was more thinking some of our 'slight' players like Cameron and Milera a tough physical in close game doesn't suit

GWS done a top job of that round 1
Don't know how you came to the conclusion of GWS having our measure and our clashes with the Bulldogs have been 50/50 games in the last couple years. Geelong have our measure though and I'm looking forward to seeing if they've learnt from last year when playing them
