Whilst Rubbers got us a flag and we will be forever thankful, his record over the journey is terrible.

2016 - 2 Wins and 16 Losses - Wooden Spoon
2017 - 0 Wins and 9 Losses - Probable Wooden Spoon.


We need to start planning for 2018.

Under past circumstances I would have been more happy for the lads taking their next step. Under past circumstances we had a system which didn't force team mate against team mate on their path to a better future.
I still wish Leinert all the best and truly hope he further swells the number of Sturt blokes in the Power's first team. I would find it a very bitter pill had all those Sturt blokes played for the Magpies and then thumped their former side to the tune of 125 points.

So tell me how much Port have paid in transfer fees for each of Lienert, Eddy, Irra, Snelling Hewett and Bonner. My understanding is nothing. Each of those players would cost another SANFL club about $30k in transfers alone and funnily enough, all of these guys are playing SANFL....what an opportunity!

It's pretty hard to fit a squad of 45 players into 22 is my educated guess why they are playing SANFL, not to mention the fact they're not quite up to the level yet. If you're hanging your hat on a couple of players making a difference then the standard of the league may be worse than I thought. Just guessing but I reckon the money recieved from the AFL clubs would offset a couple of 30k transfers (highly inflated considering weekly match payments)

Payer against player in a system where it is deemed "reserves" for those team mates.
In the new system, you have team mates who came through the "league" together, now having to play against one another.
It is all a matter of perspective. We are a part of a league that is being made a joke of. You are looking from the outside saying, "who gives a ****?" There is much more at stake for us.

A) Set up in a reserves comp then if it is such a problem for you.
B) In that case, just send Wingard and Pittard over to Carlton. No transfer fees applicable, and it is only a couple of players, if that makes any difference then the standard at Port is much worse off than I thought.

Yeah, sorry about that. You see, we use gas to power our dominant pokie machine empire rather than servicing the oval's facilities, since they're more important than achieving on field results. We also use hot air, which is also in rich supply from certain parts of the club's administration.

Seriously, I thought the Bays looked alright yesterday, have certainly improved and found another gear when North took it up to them at lemon time. Goes to show what a club can do when its on the bones of its arse. North continue to provide concrete evidence that we're quite simply rubbish, and that the club doesn't really give a shit beyond the annual balance sheet.

Very happy to leave Prospect with 2 points given our recent form against North. Certainly would have taken 6-3 and 3rd mid season at the start of the year. Bring on the Eagles after the bye.
