Anyone care to explain what was in the said newsletter?

Does this mean there is no game?

Calls Due – 30th April

Calls were posted 3 weeks ago via Email. Not too much to say other than remind all that there aren’t individual reminders anymore and that your Rules and Regulation on non-payment read:

6.11 No Member Club may participate in any competition of The League whilst any affiliation fees are in arrears.

That is not to say The League is not understanding of a reason a club may not be in a position to pay on time but the onus is on the club to advise The League before the due date to seek leave of payment, not after.

Cheers, so basically pay your April account before the weekend and all is well.

Pembroke still listed as a forfeit against Henley.
How close before the game are they allowed to pay?
Bit unfair on Henley if they don't know if they have a game until the umpire is ready to bounce the ball!

They will still have a game - all non-financial teams are still expected to play, they're just playing for nothing

Yes and no, you've still gotta assume you're playing, if you're not then you can go as a group to watch a rival game or spend time with the family.

It is national naked gardening day on Saturday I might add.

I see the rule, yes... I dare say that would be participate for points.

Trust me, the offending clubs have been sent a letter telling them they will still be expected to play though.

FTR, here's the snippet from the letter sent;

Failure to address outstanding arrears by COB today will result in this week’s match being forfeited without further consultation, however you will be expected to participate in your scheduled matches.

In addition, the non-paying clubs have been penalised a fee of 25% of the outstanding amount, also due before any club will participate in a match of The League.

The rule you referred to above LM does mean participate for points - The technicality is no club can participate whilst unfinancial, as of COB yesterday, all clubs were financial

For a bit of back history, A member club proposed it for Rules and Regs, based on being pissed that they pay on time every month but some clubs don’t. The exec backed it in the hope it would scare people, obviously whilst not thinking for a moment think anyone would be that stupid to test it and based on that, didn’t even worry about coming up with strategy to consider the technicalities.

As it is, all clubs have paid. The league is now in the process of reviewing the rule so it causes as little disruption as possible but the non-paying club is still penalised.

Amazing round.

looks like close ones again today, at least 2 games so far decided by less than a goal it seems, (Iggies by a point, dont reckon they led until the 20 min mark last 1/4) and Athelstone beat SHOC by 4 points one a total blow out (Unley over Broadview) not sure of the other 2 as yet

Really surprised Henley got hold of phos by so much. Must've had a few out or phos back to the pack?

Don't think it is a surprise. Said at the start of season Henley will win this grade easily, nothing I have seen has changed my mind. I know they just won against Athelsone, and will have their down times during season. But when switched on and no injuries, they are miles clear of the rest (which is pretty even from 2nd to 8th teams).

All 3 of their sides are going strong. Wouldn't be surprised if they take the clean sweep

Have seen all three of their sides play very well drilled and stingy defences all round came from the dead to beat Athelstone at Athelstone.

Nobody will get close to their C Grade, will go thru undefeated. The B Grade could as well.

Will get another look at them this week when we trek down to Shark Park

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

You hear that saying a lot, just very hard for teams to go thru the whole season undefeated, can get the players minds back on it knowing they are not unbeatable.
