When it came to the clutch they were pathetic last night, I tipped them with a bit of confidence and watched most of the game, should be winning games like that at home. They play very much a 'bruise free' style of footy and that's not going to get them anywhere, they need to get some c**t about them or something. Carlton simply wanted it more last night.

Gibbs was outstanding, a footballer can't have more of a complete game like he did last night.

I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen last night.
Its a shocking loss for the Suns.....did they get ahead of themselves after a won at the G???

Annnd they've shown nothing in the 3rd quarter. Game been completely played on Melbourne's terms from the first bounce. I'm putting a line through the Dogs for the flag. Might be lucky to make the 8 at this rate. Wouldn't it be funny if the Swans ended up taking their spot! The hangover is DEFINITELY in. As it is in my world today just quietly. Dees on the other hand, who knows? Happy for them to do well, with a couple of ex-Bombers running around. I wish the talk pre-trade period last year re Salem being keen on coming to us came to something. Looks a player.

11.3.4 Permitted Numbers at the Centre Bounce
When the football is bounced to start a quarter or recommence play after a Goal has been scored, the following shall apply:
(a) a maximum of 4 Players from each Team are permitted in the Centre Square;
(b) Of the 4 Players, one player from each Team is permitted to be within the 10 meter circle;
(c) no Player (other than the 4 initial Players) or Team Official shall enter the Centre Square from the time the field Umpire commences their approach to the Centre Circle to bounce the football until the football touches the ground, in the act of bouncing, or leaves the field Umpire’s hand, in the act of being
thrown up

If you are one short in the centre square (maximum of four) when the umpire is starts their approach to the centre circle to start the play no-one can enter the centre square even if you are one short.

Never knew that, seen it plenty of times without being pinged.

No more four umpires please. They've got no ******* idea and neither do the players. Shithouse idea that I hope gets canned as quickly as possible.

Extremely doubtful, but next Friday night should be a beauty

The following results need to happen and we will be in the top 8 this time next week.

1) We need to beat Essendon at the SCG
2) Gold Coast need to beat St Kilda at Etihad Stadium
3) Geelong need to beat Fremantle at Simmonds Stadium
4) Norff Melbourne need to beat Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium

The premiership hangover tag with the dogs is interesting, because they won from 7th last year. I dont think anyone would argue that overall they were the best team - they just played the best footy at the end of the year. of course thats when it counts, but sydney's slow start to the year was much more significant given they finished top after the minor round last year.

its entirely possible that the dogs just arent that good and just had a purple patch in the finals last year.

reckon the "trial" of 4 umpires is nothing more than them inventing a way for all of the main umpires to still get a job for the 3 weeks where there are less games.

The only thing you could consider extremely doubtful is number 2, but only if you trust St Kilda.

And the top 4 a couple weeks later. Just need Port to lose a few games they shouldnt as their percentage is a bit hard to reel in
Can still get $3 to make the 8, thats giving cash away.

I reckon they should go back to 2 field umpires but give the boundary and goal umpires the ability to pay frees but only for off the ball incidents

Yep, the AFL is going to be funding them for ever whether it be on the GC or in Tassie so make the move now, pay respect to an Aussie Rules heartland and ship them south. Couldn't call them the Suns in Tassie though, could they?

Few injuries from the weekend :

Suns Barlow with a badly broken leg.

Bulldogs Lin Jong looks to have ruptured his ACL

Geelong's Cockatoo and the other Selwood both with hamstrings, Port's Polec the same.

Watts and Jones from Melbourne have got hamstring and quad concerns respectively. However, Max Gawn will return for the Dees this weekend.

Feel a bit for Polec with it happening so close to the end of the game. Cruel.

At least Polec has had a decent run at it. Cocky looking more and more like a lemon each week. Not looking such a suave top ten pick with these multiple injuries.

Sydney are building no doubt, but Richmond's finishing and fwd 50 entries are pretty ordinary and appear to only have one plan (empty out F50 and kick to space). Pretty rare to see any of their forwards kick many form marks, almost all goals are on the run.

3 goals in the 2nd half of footy in good conditions is going to expose you to losses, one of those goals was from Jack deep in the pocket.

Their mids and backs seem to be giving their forward good enough looks....unless they can improve efficiency up forward they will only be a mid range side.
