17 Q Before You 2 8 19721 20513 96.14 8
18 SHARKS 2 8 19660 20875 94.18 8

Buddy Franklin have been a cut above the rest for most of this season and that superiority was emphasised last weekend when they almost topped the league in scoring and smashed this week's opponent, Les's Men. As far as the rest of the competition goes though, almost every match from here on will have the status of 'eight point game' as this league is just so close. Anyone can beat anyone here with the last year's struggling teams really lifting and no one really falling away with the possible exception of an unlucky Q and with the definite exception of the SHARKS whose PODs are really awful.

Losing by one point is never much fun and that fate befell Poon Army who are suddenly doing it tough after really flying a couple of weeks ago. The SuperCoach gods have bitten Hammo on the rump in recent weeks with Sloane being this month's Treloar..a SuperCoach poison that may or may not come good. Poon Army are still in the eight but they are one of many teams at 5-5 in what will be a real dogfight for those bottom four spots in the top eight this season. A one point loss to one of your main rivals could prove very costly for the Poonies.

While Buddy did it fairly easily it wasn't so easy for a couple of other highly ranked teams. Captain Who was given a mighty scare by Q Before You who looked like pulling off much needed win. Instead Groover steadied and consolidated their second ranked position on the ladder. Fellow top four side Delicious was not so lucky. Valleys' boys became the second top ranked team to fall to the mighty Longwood Lions who I might have written off a bit too quickly last week. Whether it's bye arse or not, two fine wins against top four teams has kick-started the Lions' season and Alaska is back in business here.

The REBCats have put together their first decent season in many years and it was time to see the Dochter after the Carlton ball hog lead the Catters to victory over Richo Richo after Pendles didn't get the job done on the Queen's birthday. Eckys Fevs had a great round topping the scoring and rolling Hondo who is suddenly standing on the outside looking in. The Underdogs were setting league scoring records for the wrong reason a few weeks ago but they are bark in town with a narrow in over Hips Don't Lie who aren't.

Pinch a few, avoid relegation. I've done that for the past two seasons. Pretty close to the drop twice.

Sam Docherty I love you! Couldn't cover Steele and didn't want to burn trades and copped the donut against the top side and won. Captain Docherty did the trick. Three out three for the byes! Three wins out of nine byes is my usual tally. Got to be happy with that boyos! 8)

Reb, good win!

However get ready for a good laugh. You should have lost that by 160. Hear me out, then let the ridicule flow lol.

Traded Fyfe for Martin, on Friday morning. Saving one trade for either GAblett or another premo on Saturday. Then heard he was in doubt...silly me! Decided to try get Fyfe back in through the loophole, restore my trades then bring in GAblett. BAM! Fyfe back in, trade burnt! So I started with Fyfe, ended with Fyfe, and burnt 2 trades! FMSC!!!!!

Won most my league games luckily except Hogg PL.

Learning experience which hurt big time. Those extra 210ish points lost means I go from 600ish overall out to 1000ish. And no doubt well outside the top teams in Hogg overall.

16 Q Before You 3 8 21371 22056 96.89 12
17 SHARKS 3 8 21431 22523 95.15 12
18 Les's Men 3 8 21439 22552 95.06 12

The top two sides went belly up in the last of the bye weeks as the REBCats rolled top side Buddy Franklin and in perhaps an even bigger boilover the struggling SHARKS cleaned up Captain Who in sensational style. The Longwood Lions were a bit like REBCats a few weeks ago, struggling and not looking like a finalist but both sides have won three matches over the bye period to emerge as surprise finalists in this division. Alaska has been on fire in recent weeks and their big win over the Bians has Les's Men sititng stone motherless last on the Premier League table.

I'm sure that Q Man has been fun at parties this season but even he would be happy with this weekends round as Q Before You finally got a win over the inconsistent Pool Swimmers. For Richo Richo and Underdogs it was a bad week as they both fell a little further behind the top eight with another loss. Richo of course, came from nowhere to win the comp last season but they have already lost more matches in 2017 than they did all of last year so a repetition of last year's miracle is looking less likely by the week.

Two top sides who did well were Benny Rolfs who seem to rack up large tallies of victories every season as well as Delicious who are also very consistent. The normally consistent Hondo are now an unflattering 5-6 after copping a stiff seven point loss to the Rolfs. Hips Don't Lie were the big scorers although the back in form Poon Army weren't far behind. Another team on a bit of a hot streak are Eckys Fevolas who are scoring well on a consistent basis.

This Premier League table has a very different look about it as teams who have done well in the past are struggling and some teams that have yet to or haven't made their mark for some time are winning matches. Better than last year's crap that's for sure.

It was great that the new bye strategy paid off with 3 wins. Although it was set up by Masha, in the first week who obviously threw the first bye to try to get wins in the next two. This allowed me do all my cash generation in week one and upgrade the following weeks. :)

I will be interested to see how I go the rest of the season as my strategy has changed and I have plenty of POD’s. 8)

I have noticed that. I'm your next opponent. I reckon the winner makes the eight this year and the loser isn't out of it either. Pretty important match. Your side looks pretty good.

I've really hit a wall despite being pretty happy with my side overall. I took the donut last week and lost by a measley 4 points. The Rockliff trade in a few weeks back has proven really costly. 2 missed games and then two low scores on return.

Poon Army lost Beams early and I thought that was enough and I will take the good luck this time and wait for another week when I cop my turn. I sleep easy on Saturday night. It's all looking like a canter from here.

Then lunch time Sunday bang I lose Joel in 45 seconds. This evened up the injury score count for both of us and looking at the remaining players I thought it looked tough for me. Then a few hours later I flew the white flag when Kruze was on 60 at quarter time.

Then Kruze slowed down while his Nank (who I benched for Greenwood) and Murphy started to underperform while Rance for me was having a big game. Hopes are up all of a sudden and we eventually enter the final game with me + 23 and Witts versus his Harbrow.

Harbrow of course has a hot game and at 3 quarter time was something like 100 v Witts 70. Last quarter and Harbrow continues finding stats but Witts gets moving including kicking a goal and I am watching their scores like a Hawk as Witts slowly creeps into the -23 range. They are the Suns two highest scoring players.

When the game finishes Harbrow shows 120 and Witts 98 = 1 point win. Then it changes to 119 v 98 and I am up 2 points. Final scores come in Harbrow 119 v Witts 99 and I win by 3. An amazing game coming down to a single head to head in the final game.

Bad luck Poon Army, so close.

Get ******. He can't do it again can he? Well, can he? Richo Richo has been stinking it up in his premiership defence but the week after I start engraving the tombstone Richo smashes out a league high 2346 to smash the previously in-form Eckys to remain an improbable two games out of the eight. In more good news for Richo, three teams on six wins all lost so the results went in their favour as well. There are still five games to go so Richo has time to make his mark on this season.

Longwood Lions continued with their good form with a solid win over the REBCats. It was an important win for Alaska's team as all of the other sides in the bottom half of the eight got rolled. The top four consolidated their double chance credentials with some solid scoring. In an even league the top four have been remarkably consistent this year while the rest of the league battles it out at each others throats.

After an extremely frustrating start to the season there appears to be something of a light at the end of the tunnel for Q Before You and SHARKS and not the train that looked like coming. The SHARKS look the best bet to sneak away from the bottom two as their scoring has improved in recent matches while Q Man are still struggling to scratch out a decent score even though he's won a few matches now. No such problem for Underdogs who, as the league's worst scoring team are really starting to struggle. Les's Men are stone motherless and need a win soon to avoid going back to Divvy I.

There were many unlucky teams this round but Poon Army probably take the award with Harbrow's holding the ball costing him the four points. Good old Jelwood! Hips Don't Lie have been scoring very well for most of the year and they again copped an unlucky loss despite scoring well. Has Been need to find that winning formula and it must have been frustrating to score a decent score but get well beaten in the end by the Captain.

Has Been's are really struggling. Thought I was getting back on track with 3 wins in a row then traded in Rockliff, JJ and Lynch in Rnd 12. Scores so far from those 3:

Rocky 92, 59, 83 = Ave 78
JJ 21, 58, 82 = Ave 54
Lynch 103, 37, 39 = Ave 60

Thought I was going bang with 3 upgrades.........turned out to the worlds most expensive triple downgrade

Rocky 92, 59, 83 = Ave 78
JJ 21, 58, 82 = Ave 54
Lynch 103, 37, 39 = Ave 60

Thought I was going bang with 3 upgrades.........turned out to the worlds most expensive triple downgrade

Ouch man that is tough. You haven't had one week where all three have scored well. If it makes you feel better I gave Rocky a swerve not trusting his durability and brought in Zorko...who promptly gets his lowest score in years.
