Great day at Cobra Park, I Would not remember the last time, or if ever ? , Cove A grade, B grade ,and 18's /17.5 all got a win vs the Valleys on a Saturday.

Any one from Valleys know?

Is all going well on the long boat? With only a win over Lonsdale and Marion in A grade, some Chinese whispers around and looked like some sort of Exec/ committee/big boys meeting held in Coves clubrooms on Sat just before the A grade ??

Mini bus what a good question!!! Is all going well on the long boat? No I reckon the long boat could be mistaken for the Titanic but it's good to hear some of the "big boys" you mention have noticed.

If you look on their Face Book page all you get is "another great weekend of footy"

I suppose if the right teams are winning and the right players are being named in the best then it doesn't really matter if your A grade has won 2 games for the year

I'm not sure a Facebook page is where you would discuss your club's inner workings or critiques of players and teams. Would have thought that would be done behind closed doors and the social media just a vehicle to promote events and keep people coming to the club. I caught the last quarter of the game and it seems the A's fell short again after being very competitive for the previous 3. Is it fitness, or have they forgotten how to win? I'm a glass half full person and I love the fact that so many young fellas are getting game time, this can only be good for the future. Was also great to see Browny out there and I did notice Ryan Borowski played B's, so a good strong body to protect the younger players will help.

The best footy they play is good enough, but those 10-15 minute lapses are killing them. Sort that out and they are on track for a better result.

Yep. From what i heard, a scuffle broke out which ended up with a Morphies player leaving the field as he was bleeding, and he was replaced. After he had already left the field, the umpire determined that he was also sent off - even tho he didn't escort him from the field or show him a yellow card or anything (as he was already well off the ground) and once the game resumed, i think Lonny called for the player count. The player count lasted into 3/4 time and in the end our score was wiped! Think we lost 15 goals or something like that.

This is what i was told anyway - amazing scenes down at Morphett Vale Primary School.

AFC - you don't need to post all the inner sanctum crap on the Face Book page but I reckon they need to make some sort of statement letting every one know they've noticed and are doing some thing about it.

Yeah lots of kids are getting a game but they need to get their hands on the footy or dont pick them.

Meanwhile the bloke who was the ruck last year in playing twos

Some of these young blokes look scared - may be Boz running through them at training will be a good thing

I wasn't there but heard 1 from each team were yellow carded and Morphies replaced their yellow carded player straight away.

Didn't say he was the answer to all the problems, just that he would assist the younger guys. Sure there's been a few Reynella teams over the years that have taken a similar approach when developing young talent. There's no head in the sand, but if we have a team that can compete strongly for 3 and a bit quarters, then there's plenty to work with.

AFC your not that young;

Think you had 9 vs Cove 8 on the weekend and Flaggy had 8 or 9, we had 7 the week before the bye!
Tough day at work, so had a look at the top 6 sides which backs up my point.

U/21's that have played A grade by club - approx. don't shoot me if I'm wrong on a couple :)

Happy Valley 15 - 9th on ladder 2 wins
Flagstaff Hill 13 = top on ladder 7 wins
Noarlunga 9 = top on ladder 7 wins
Cove 11 - 5th on ladder 6 wins-
Reynella 16 - 6th on ladder 5 wins

The only side in top 6 currently with not many U/21 is M/Vale 5. = top on ladder 7 wins.

Let's stop blaming the fact that we are playing some kids and look at the real problems because whether your gonna admit it or not AFC there are people with their head in the sand at Happy Valley

I been around that club for a long long time and never seen us this low on the ladder before

If I was the ones running this club I would start doing something to make some changes for the better next year or they may find themselves out of a job at the AGM

So what would be some suggestions to fix it?? Easy to say something's wrong and point fingers, but what's the solution?? Surely with the club being up for so long they are due for a few light years... They've lost thousands of games of A Grade experience over the least year or two and that is not easy to replace. Keeping the kids they do have, and continually pushing them to play A Grade would be a great start I would think. Flaggies and Reynella have had plenty of lean years too, so it's all a cycle.

I NEVER played in a senior win v Valleys in 7 seasons. Let the current cycle reign!

Yep and I happily never played in a losing team agains Flaggies while at HVFC, so it's all swings and roundabouts. Same teams can't be at the top forever.. push through and come out the other side with loyal kids who have 40-50 AGrade games under their belt and it will turn again. (Like Flaggies now)

Promising signs at HVFC this week. Despite a uncomplimentary score line we saw the debut of a young kid from a prominent football family.
No doubt every club has as many injuries as we do but good to see a few making their return.
I'm sure Mister Footy will find the negative in this situation though
