Yep, Westies just had their first win for 364 days, pretty even comp there

Surely you are not blaming the Crows for Westies demise?

Keeping them at SANFL level is the key.

Conversely there are plenty of SANFL league players that come back to grassroots footy and struggle, that convinces me the gap is not that great.

Incentive = $$'s. From where?

Not all incentive is dollar based, make it a competition that these players want to be involved in, currently it's not that.

Not at all, this shows how disconnect the SANFL admin are, spruking the comp is so even, yet West don't have a win for a year?

Maybe if it was the Crows who hadn't won for a year it wouldn't have been said.

Just like they have denied everything else in this shit sandwich

Course they've costed it, that's why they're happy with the current arrangement - it's cheaper than playing 20 games in Victoria because there's no way the Vicitorian based VFL clubs want to pay for travel over here - not even for one game a year.

Correct 100%.
There has been interest from a couple of AFL Reserves sides in joining the VFL. Sydney and GWS in particular were investigating it but the Vic clubs are adamant all games must be played in Victoria unless the teams coming in can guarantee to cover travel costs

Interesting that the article overlooks the Ravens "home" game this year at Woodville, a game against bitter rivals the Power reserves that drew a meagre 1348 viewers. The Ravens hosting games is a waste of time/money for all concerned.

And TBH why wouldn't they. Why persist in a league where the majority (except for the bean counters) clearly don't want you there.

If that's the reason, then why push for the current arrangement in the first place?

If being so unloved in the SANFL is any surprise to them to this point, then they've had their heads further up their clackers than anyone has given them credit for.

That all seems pretty simple to me. They've had a look at their options, (which they don't actually deny), and they're going nowhere.

Bit like Parkinson in the first Budget of the year claiming all teams were starting on an equal playing field

Wouldn't be canning 1348 to a home game if I were a Souffie.

It was the best option at the time. Far better than allowing pleb coaches at SANFL level to control where and how your development players are playing.

Yes Alistair Clarkson is such a pleb coach, imagine being a team that got beaten by him. You'd have to be pretty shit.

Yet Tex and several of the lads who played at Norwood credit their development to the coaches there at the time.

Its definitely been interesting in terms of the stadium deal and the controlling interest.

It all comes down to the fact that the WAFL were left put of there version of the SMA.

I found the following quote interesting.... "It would not be changing the governance structure of the football commission but the concept of having a more aligned brand associated with the AFL we think has got some value. We have to work that through with the AFL — how that would work and what it would actually mean.”
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.
