Coaches votes are biased? How so? Why would Adam Simpson give Ryder ~4.5 votes? What possible benefit does he receive?

A biased statistic is one that is correlated with the other statistics. Nobody is getting 5 coaches votes if they got zero kicks or hit outs so it would be strongly correlated with the other statistics

Well of course. I'm not arguing that these data points aren't related. We're trying to remove their biases by aggregating and weighting them. That's the whole point!
