Ah well, I got lucky last week and missed the beams, jelwood, Stewart carnage. Only fair the luck turns.

Hopefully the luck continues to turn next week

Moe: Visualise how you are going to win the fight.
REB (thinks): A congenital heart defect has floored Delicious, moments before they go in the ring.

I thought I had you Hondo. Was going to loophole Swallow's emergency score onto the field by putting D Lloyd as M8....until Greene pulled out and Lloyd came in. Then you covered your donut by trading in Witherden who ******* somehow scores 91.

In the end, I still probably didn't have enough. Aside of Danger, my midfield is weak and has two blokes in it that can't shake a tag

18 Les's Men 3 10 25613 27025 94.78 12

Valleys has saluted in the big match of Round 13 with a thrilling seven point victory over fellow top four side Captain Who. It was neck and neck in the end but it was a Delicious victory which has them up to third spot behind the super consistent Benny Rolfs and the long-term ladder leaders Buddy Franklin. Just behind the top four, the league's in-form side Longwood Lions look set to play finals in the Premier League for the first time after smashing an unlucky Hips Don't Lie in a high quality contest. In a less than high quality contest two of the lowest scoring teams in the league duked it out with yours truly missing the Paddytrain but still somehow jagging a win over the luckless Les' Men who didn't. The REBCats are somehow 6th despite not scoring a point all year while Les is stone motherless and looking good things for the drop this season. The other top eight side who got the job done was Poon Army who finally brought in his favourite Zerrett just in time to see him fail to ton up against the Brions. The Underdogs are in all sorts though so Poony saluted fairly easily.

Hondo held off Q Before You to reclaim his top eight spot at the expense of Ecky's Fevolas who have started dropping matches at the wrong time of year (ah but when is the right time to drop matches I don't hear you ask). Eckys were flying a few weeks ago but they've now dropped three of their last five and all of a sudden they are outside of the top eight. Meanwhile a couple of aquatic teams appear to be bobbing up and surfacing for air. Pool Swimmers missed the eight last season but they are back in town with a solid win over Has Been while the SHARKS topped everyone bar Longwood Lions in their big win over the Honey Badgers.

Les' lacklusture showing against the REBCats has the Bians in all sorts of bother and looking right in the frame for relegation with four weeks to go. Q Man has been struggling all year and are not safe but Gibbo's (Sharksta) Underdogs are even worse so it's fair to say that Q should finish above both. Richo Richo's premiership defence officially ended after they went 4-9 in a 40 point loss to Benny Rolfs. Richo Is ranked 8th in scoring this year so you'd have to think that Richo Richo Man can win enough games to remain a Premier League coach next year.

I was a bit lucky in one area that being that I didn't realise Jelwood was an out until after the game started. I was able to swing an extra E into the midfield because my defence E had not played. That allowed me to cover Joel but also get Danger's VC 196.

The Run Home - Round 14

1. Buddy Franklin 44 (Ben Rolfsburgers, Poon Army, Q Before You, SHARKS)
Buddy has been the king of the minor round and he has three tough matches before he can claim the minor premiership. I think he wins all four and does just that. Minor premiers and a match up against the Lions to start their campaign.

2. Ben Rolfsbergers 40 (Buddy Franklin, Longwood Lions Les’s Men, REBCats)
I reckon Benny Rolfs are the vulnerable team in the top four but they deserve to start favourites in the last two matches. The REBCats could go close to rolling the Rolfs and I think Buddy and the Lions will roll them. The Rolfs could slip to fifth and face a knockout final.

3. Delicious 36 (REBCats, Pool Swimmers, Hips Don’t Lie, Honey Badgers)
I think Delicious wins all four of these games and finisheds second with a match up against Groover in the first week of the finals.

4. Captain Who? 36 (Pool Swimmers, Honey Badgers, Hondo SCC, Underdogs)
The Captain is looking good for all four as well I think. Hondo is the toughest challenge here and the Pool Swimmers will also put in a strong effort but the Captain is scoring pretty well and should get the job done and face Delicious in the Qualifying Final.

5. Longwood Lions 32 (Ecky’s Fevolas, Ben Rolfsbergers, Poon Army, Q Before You)
Alaska is in top form and his Lions and the clash against Benny Rolfs could get the Lions a shot at the double chance. Alaska might also be sweating on an upset win by the REBCats but the Lions are a very strong chance to snaffle a top four spot.

6. REBCats 32 (Delicious, Hips Don’t Lie, Ecky’s Fevolas, Ben Rolfsbergers)
The Cats haven’t been big scorers this year but they have managed to scratch out wins and I reckon I can get at least two more before the year is out. The REBCats won’t go any higher or any lower. An Ipswich derby in a knockout final looks likely.

7. Poon Army 28 (Richo Richo Man, Buddy Franklin, Longwood Lions, Les’s Men)
If Hammo can’t beat the reigning premier then he could be in serious trouble. He will get the job done in the last round but this week’s match is piviotal for the Army if they are going to march into the finals. Going to be tight!

8. Hondo SCC 28 (SHARKS, Has Been, Captain Who?, Pool Swimmers)
Hondo could feel the pressure against the SHARKS but should beat Has Been and Pool Swimmers and scramble into the top eight an a knockout final against the Longwood Lions or Ben Rolfsbergers.

9. Ecky’s Fevolas 24 (Longwood Lions, Les’s Men, REBCats, Hips Don’t Lie)
On current form I can see only one, maybe two wins for Ecky which won’t be enough for them to make the finals this year. An impending loss against Alaska will put their season on life support but they should stay relevant for another week by beating Les’s Men but they probably need to win their last two as well to make it. Nope.

10. Pool Swimmers 24 (Captain Who?, Delicious, Honey Badgers, Hondo SCC)
I rate the Pool Swimmers as they flogged me easily but I can’t see them winning against the Captain, Delicious or Hondo so no finals for the Swimmers this year.

11. Hips Don’t Lie 24 (Les’s Men, REBCats, Delicious, Ecky’s Fevolas)
Hips have been a little shy of the contenders this year but they’ll get the job done in the toss of the coin job against the out of form Eckys. I can’t see them going the journey into August.

12. Has Been 20 (Honey Badgers, Hondo SCC, Underdogs, Richo Richo Man)
Has Been should knock off the Honey Badgers and the Underdogs but I can’t see them troubling Hondo who they will need to beat to make the eight. Even if they surprise the Hondo man a tough match against Richo at the end could be tricky.

13. Honey Badgers 20 (Has Been, Captain Who?, Pool Swimmers, Delicious)
The Badgers win one of these games tops I think. See you next season lads.

14. SHARKS 20 (Hondo SCC, Underdogs, Richo Richo Man, Buddy Franklin)
The SHARKS are suddenly scoring very well and are looking like this year’s bolter a la Richo Richo from last season. Normally the 14th ranked side would have no show with this run home but I reckon Spiro will be a real handful and could go very close to making the eight. Buddy might stop them in the end.

This is awesome!

Nope. Takes forever to research and write. Nothing stopping you though. ;) I do finals write ups though when August rolls around. I also do a newsletter for our family league and that takes time as well.

I thought Zorko the magnificent had saved me last weekend but full credit to Delicious who were too good posting a muscular 2403 which was 43 points to the good of my best score all year. I can't complain too much as I've been scoring squat and winning games so perhaps the karma bus was due to stop at my stop. Another unlucky player, from a player who missed the finals by 0.1% last year (as I never get tired of reminding him), was Poon Army who was stopped by Richo Richo by 28 points. It was a crucial result for Hammo as his draw now is horrendous for the next two games.

Buddy Franklin won the top of the table clash against Benny Rolfs which makes Delicious second on the line of betting (um...if we bet on it) for the Hogg Premiership. Captain Who copped a second high scoring loss but you'd expect Groover to hang on to the top four spot after Alaska's first loss for some weeks. Hondo managed to put a stop to this SHARKS nonsense while Eckys Fevolas turned around a poor run to stop Longwood Lions' hot streak.

Near the foot of the table things are suddenly looking a bit bleak for Has Been who coughed up the four points against the Honey Badgers. That percentage is looking a bit sickly but Underdogs and Les's Men is even worse. Q Man had a vital win against the Underdogs that all but secures his spot in the Premier League for next year after his Q Before You pulled out a big score to smash Sharksta's suspect combination who look good things to be joining the Bians in Divvy I next year.

The Run Home - Round 15

1. Buddy Franklin 48 (Poon Army, Q Before You, SHARKS)
Buddy has pretty much secured the Minor Premiership with this week’s win over Benny Rolfs but all three remaining opponents have the capacity to score well. Maybe they drop one who knows but it’s hard to tip against the Buddster he has been that consistent.

2. Delicious 40 (Pool Swimmers, Hips Don’t Lie, Honey Badgers)
Delicious is evil! This I know from personal experience after posting my best score of the year and still getting cleaned up. The Pool Swimmers are probably the biggest challenge but I’m hoping that Delicious does the business there as my furry pelt is not yet secure.

3. Ben Rolfsbergers 40 (Longwood Lions Les’s Men, REBCats)
Benny went down narrowly to the ladder leaders last week but I reckon the Lions might have jumped the shark so Benny can bounce back and clean up Alaska this week and secure the double chance. This cocky Cat is liking our chances to go one point better than the draw I got against Benny last year.

4. Captain Who? 36 (Honey Badgers, Hondo SCC, Underdogs)
Groover was not disgraced but it was an upset loss against out of the eight Pool Swimmers last week. Groover won’t want any more upsets on the way with three teams only a game behind the Captain at this stage. Expect the captain to bounce back to winning form this week.

5. Longwood Lions 32 (Ben Rolfsbergers, Poon Army, Q Before You)
The Longwood Lions bold POD strategy seemed to come a bit of a cropper last week and now they face traditional powerhouses Benny Rolfs before a tricky match up against Poon Army who are fighting for survival. I’ve jumped off and I reckon they get a maximum of two wins and could even end up with just the one.

6. REBCats 32 (Hips Don’t Lie, Ecky’s Fevolas, Ben Rolfsbergers)
The Cats finally got their scoring game going but were not rewarded last week. Screw it, I win all three of these but I’d take two. No gimmies alas and I can’t afford to go back to my normal shitty scoring or I’ll be looking on again. Not this year boyos!

7. Hondo SCC 32 (Has Been, Captain Who?, Pool Swimmers)
Don’t look now but here comes Hondo. Hondo has been scoring well pretty much all year but hasn’t been getting the Ws but right now he looks a good bet to finish in the top eight. Two more wins I think for Hondo which will see him probably play Alaska or my REBCats in a knockout final.

8. Poon Army 28 ( Buddy Franklin, Longwood Lions, Les’s Men)
Hammo is under pressure after failing to claim the scalp of Richo Richo last week and might be looking to Longwood Lions as the makeup game that gets them into the eight. The Army might get in with 32 but two more wins are probably needed to secure their place in the finals. As I said last week going to be tight.

9. Ecky’s Fevolas 28 (Les’s Men, REBCats, Hips Don’t Lie)
The Fevs are staying alive and things are looking better this week for the Ecky man. A match up against last ranked Les should ensure another four points before a clash against the REBCas and what could be a decisive match up against Hippys to see if they can scramble in. Poon’s main threat.

10. Pool Swimmers 28 (Delicious, Honey Badgers, Hondo SCC)
Pool Swimmers cleaned up the Captain last week to stay alive and well in the premiership race but need to beat an even tougher team this week to stay in the race. If they get the job done this week then I reckon Poony and Ecky are gawn.

11. Hips Don’t Lie 28 (REBCats, Delicious, Ecky’s Fevolas)
Hips Don’t Lie refuse to go away but need to beat one of REBCats or Delicious to make the eight. Hippy scored well again but unfortunately for them, their opponents over the next fortnight scored even better. Close, but no cigar.

12. Honey Badgers 24 ( Captain Who?, Pool Swimmers, Delicious)
After writing off the Honey Badgers last week they promptly turned it around and cleaned up Has Been to remain in the hunt for the finals. And guess what…I’m writing them off again this week as well LOL. No soup for you Badgers!

13. Richo Richo Man 20 (Q Before You, SHARKS, Has Been)
What the? No way. He can’t surely? Richo has been scoring solidly but not winning matches but as we all found out this time last year there is nothing the Richo man loves more than a late run at the flag. Richo’s next opponent is against another regular finalist who is not quite done with just yet so if he wins that the SHARKS match becomes an important one for more than just the two sides involved.

14. Q Before You 20 ( Richo Richo man, Buddy Franklin, Longwood Lions)
The Q Man has somehow smashed his way back into revelance in recent weeks and appears to have shaken off the threat of relegation that has loomed over him all season. I can see perhaps one win out of three but despite last week’s good score I’m not liking him in any of the three remaining games. This week against Richo is massive in what is an early elimination final for them both.

18 Les's Men 3 12 29903 31501 94.93 12

Buddy Franklin has flexed their muscles with a powerful win that has knocked Poon Army out of the top eight in Round 15 of the Premier League. The Buddster knocked up 2422 but it was Delicious who once again topped the scoring for the league and these two sides look headed for a big match in a few weeks time as they will take some stopping. The top four has been pretty much decided as Longwood Lions, REBCats and Hondo SCC all failed to get that elusive ninth win. Eckys Fevolas have leapfrogged the lot into 5th place and face a massive matchup against the REBCats next week.

Hips Don't Lie are once again hovering outside the top eight after scoring 2400 while Richo Richo and the SHARKS remained in the hunt, at least mathematically. Has Been are certainly that but as they showed this week they still have the power to shape the top eight as Hondo can testify. Despite Q Man's problems, he is only one week away from qualifying for the Premier League again next year as the Underdogs and Les's Men are really on the nose with the Underdogs seemingly unable to post 2200 when the rest of the league are having no issues posting 2300 regularly. Les and Underdogs are dead teams walking it appears.

The Run Home - Round 16

1. Buddy Franklin 52 (Q Before You, SHARKS)
Buddy smashed Hammo last week and is flying at the moment. An easy win coming up against Q and a tougher win against the SHARKS before Buddy goes in as the minor premier.

2. Delicious 44 ( Hips Don’t Lie, Honey Badgers)
All of a sudden that Hips Don't Lie match is looking a very important fixture in the run home with Hippy not without some chance of winning that game. I've said it before and I'll say it again GO DELICIOUS! Get it done mate because I can't get over the line at the minute!

3. Ben Rolfsbergers 44 (Les’s Men, REBCats)
Benny have secured the double chance and will win against Les before getting rolled by the REBCats in the last round.....I hope. They don't seem to be scoring as much as some of the other sides that are in contention but if they have been keeping the powder dry then it could be a bit of a masterstroke by the Rolfs.

4. Captain Who? 40 ( Hondo SCC, Underdogs)
The Captain got back on the winners list and has probably secured their top four place this season. That Hondo game could go either way but you'd expect Groover to clean up the Underdogs who are lowest scoring team in the Premier League this season. I reckon the Captain gets both and plays Delicious in the Qualifying FInal.

5. Ecky’s Fevolas 32 (REBCats, Hips Don’t Lie)
And Ecky goes BANG. A couple of solid wins in recent weeks has them firming for a finals appearance after they got the wobbles a few weeks back. Going on recent scoring Ecky vs. REBCats is going to be very close but I can't seem to get the choccies of late so I'm tipping Ecky to roll me in a desperate attempt to jinx the Fevs. Going to be a good couple of games to finish the year for the Fevs. 1 out of 2 but which one?

6. Longwood Lions 32 (Poon Army, Q Before You)
Longwood Lions vs. Poon Army is almost impossible to tip. Both teams have a big ceiling but both teams can also crash. I just don't like the look of the Lions PODs at all so I'm thinking that Poon could well be back in the eight next week. Longwood Lions should beat Q in the last round which is not great news for Hondo or the REBCats.

7. REBCats 32 (Ecky’s Fevolas,Ben Rolfsbergers)
Two high scoring losses and things are starting to get a bit desperate for the REBCats. My boys have been about fifty points short per week so I'll need to find them pronto. I reckon I need to win both but I'm only going to get one. ACK.

8. Hondo SCC 32 (Captain Who?, Pool Swimmers)
Last week's upset loss to Has Been is a calamitous loss which has put the acid right on Hondo at a time when he should be just about settling in for the finals. Hondo has a tough match up against the Captain and that Pool Swimmers match is no doddle either. One more win for Hondo which means it's going to be very tight between them and REBCats for that last spot in the finals.

9. Hips Don’t Lie 32 (Delicious, Ecky’s Fevolas)
The Hippys are contesting strongly for a spot in the eight as was evidenced by their high scoring win over the REBCats which has kept their season alive. The next match is tougher though against the mighty Delicious and the last match against Ecky is also a tough one. I can't see Hips winning both which is what they need to do in order to make the eight.

10. Poon Army 28 ( Longwood Lions, Les’s Men)
With a lame Sloane and one game behind the pack, the odds appear to be against Hammo making the eight but I reckon they might sneak in. It will all depend on the match up against Longwood's PODS. Alaska's PODS make him a very dangerous combination should the regular favourites have a collective downer while someone like Menangola has a picnic. I reckon Poonie wins both and might sneak in. That percentage is handy.

11. Pool Swimmers 28 (Honey Badgers, Hondo SCC)
The Swimmers don't have the benefit of Poon Army's percentage so a lot needs to go right in order for them to make the finals. They'll clean up the Honey Badgers but probably won't get by Hondo. Even if they do beat Hondo they would have to win by plenty and rely on other results to get the job done so probably not.

Re: Hogg Premier League 2017

Postby Hondo » Fri Jul 21, 2017 4:48 pm

I got stuck with the Yeo late out having run the VC loophole and locked Cameron on field as my captain.

So I couldn't get Greenwood's score as bench cover for Yeo and didn't want to burn a trade at the late stage of the round with only WC and Freo forwards to choose from. Basically had to wave the white flag and hope that Johanissen and Fyfe went below 170 or so, which I knew they wouldn't.

Had I been able to use Greenwood's score I would have won. Just not my week.
