I must admit back in the day on other forums we used to drop in the odd word or two and challenge Mr Rucci to include it in his next article. Worked a cutla times.

Was absolutely superb.

Just enormous at present- he and our midfield were dominant in every facet today. Ryder 37 H/O, Wingard, Wines and Ebert with 30+. Crazy stuff.

Goldstein has regressed massively. AA Ruckman 2 years ago, an absolute shell of that player today.

Got injured and hasn't been able to recover. Hasn't been the same player.

Ports Average Home attendance

2017 39,667 ladder position 4th

2016 39,664 ladder position 10th

3 extra people thus far and they are a serious top 4 contender this season.

I reckon that just shows they have consistency around their supporter base for a change, regardless of ladder position?

In all likelihood Adelaide will finish top. Pretty tough to see them slipping now, unless they drop to Geelong.

We're a huge chance of having an all SA qualifying final.

:D

Worst outcome for Adelaide if it happens. Lose any home ground advantage that took 23 weeks to get hold of.

Port crowds are healthy and sustainable at an above AFL average of ~40k?

It's clear what he's saying.

After round 19, a Saturday 4pm game - our lowest drawing timeslot - vs St Kilda, our average crowd for this year will fall below that from last year.

Declining crowds, despite our rise from 10th to 4th, clearly show that the crowds are becoming bored of the bells and whistles that came with the new oval, and before too long, we will be back to having 25k at games just like the footy park days.
Adelaide Oval will not be the savior of the Port Adelaide Footy Club.

Now I'm not sure I agree with all of that, but it's clear that's what he's trying to say.

Not sure if he's taken into account opponents and time slots, both fairly important when it comes to drawing a crowd. I will agree that our crowds are down, some things are up though, price of entry, food/drink etc. I know some families that now have only two tickets instead of 4 as they couldn't afford for the whole family to go every week.

Freo Sunday twilight, Brisbane, West Coast and North all at home aren't exactly big crowd pullers*.

Absolutely - family ticket (2 Adults + 2 kids) ranges from $77.50 to $178.40.

Couple of beers/cider for mum/dad and not much change from a $50.. add in maybe some chips or a snack for the kids there's another $15 - $20

Starts getting expensive, not something that all families could do every week.

Throw in the Sunday twilight games, kids have school Monday and we have them in bed by 7pm usually - so generally it's a little late by time they get home and they are likely over tired or hypo and then have difficulty sleeping.

Saturday afternoon games we have ammo footy, hard to find time away from that to head to the games.

Much easier and cost effective to stay home in the warmth and watch the game :D

Yeah but... like... our crowds are still more than healthy?! In an seriousness this argument is weaker than a tackle from a Flinders Uni B Grade back pocket.
