Rutten would be close to Glass as second best?

Rutten was very good, was all Australian in 2005, but glass is a 4 time all Australian and 3 time B&F

Warren Tredrea was the most dominant forward (some say player) in the game from 2000-2005.

He has to be in there.

This.

Won't get me disagreeing with the selections of Franklin or Riewoldt, but;

4 x AA between 2001-04, no one came close to Tredders in this period as far as CHF's are concerned. Brown did not make one of these AA sides.

Probably should have had a Brownlow Medal in 2004 too.

I think Brown was busy collecting premiership medals between 2001-2003 though ;)

Yeah well, I can't argue with that.

Port would have won 4 straight with a forward line of Lynch and Tredrea!

You can't always go on AA selections though.
Craig Bradley who use to have the most AA caps(may still do) is rarely discussed when talking about teams who are the greatest.
He never played in this century but he still rarely gets talked about.

I think it's pretty close. Their records stack up pretty well against each other

Brown:
256 games 594 goals
2 time AA
3 time B&F
1 Coleman Medal
5x Brisbane leading goal kicker
3 premierships

Tredrea:
255 games 549 goals
4 time AA
4 time B&F
8 time port leading goal kicker
1 premiership

The three flags gets Brown over the line imo. But it certainly is close.

Pavlich really should be starting though ahead of both brown and Riewoldt.

Pav:
353 games 700 goals
6 time B&F
6 time AA (one of those at full back!)
8 time freo leading goal kicker

Riewoldt
332 games 713 goals
6 time B&F
5 time AA
5 time st kilda leading goal kicker

Yep Fletcher is very unlucky to miss out.
Forgot about him.
He was better than Glass and Rutten IMO

Got to take in Browns exceptional leadership skills too. How many games did he miss due to injury especially late in his career

Browny, Pav and Reiwolt were all courageous captains and Treadrea is a premiership captain as well.

I think the one thing to note about this era is the incredible longevity of players

I think there is a perception that players now won't last as long because the game is so fast etc, but 48 of the 82 300 game players ended their careers in the 2000s

How can you not at least consider Tredrea?
I wouldn't have him in front of the others mentioned but he is very stiff too miss out nonetheless.

Although he was Rutten's b*tch in showdowns.

It's not a proper "team" as such otherwise there'd be a small forward named in the starting side. Stephen Milne thus should be somewhere in that side along with Boomer.

IMHO, Tredrea absolutely worthy of being in this discussion. The advantages for Brown, were his set-shot goalkicking, especially at big moments, and his ability to play on the ball. Tredrea by comparison, was more durable, and spent less time suspended. Tredrea also had the better pair of hands imho.

Tough call either way.

Brown ahead of Lloyd is laughable. In the 2000's Brown kicked over 50 goals just 4 times with the his highest tally being 85 in 2009. Lloyd kicked over 50 7 times including 2 seasons over 100 and 2 seasons in the 90's
