Talk on the national game

You do realise Howard is coming off an ACL Morell?

You do realise that with Marshall in this week (presuming we don't have another KPP coming out for him), we are going straight back to the structure that we have played with all year, just different personel?

I honestly do not get your thinking. Sunday was obvious again. It was not the structure or the amount of talls we had, how many ******* times did we turn the ball over in the middle.

On JT, he isn't in our best 3 backmen anymore and isn't agile enough down there anymore hence why he was made into a makeshift forward this year. My thoughts are that he was filling Dougal's role until he was 100% right again to play AFL after his ACL. I think JT is gone which is unfortunate, but he isn't in our best side anymore

No that completely escaped me. My bad.

You know I've had three knee reconstructions and and total of 9 operations on my knee right? I know as much about knee injuries as any one other than the damn surgeon. And even the I reckon i'd beat him in a quiz.

Except this time we have someone who is actually a forward. But I agree, I'd have Marshall, Howard AND Trengove in the side. Just like in Round 1 and 2 when we had Dixon, Trengove and Eddy as the talls. Maybe this week one less tall is fair due to the oppositon nad likely weather.

bertiebeatle wrote:I honestly do not get your thinking. Sunday was obvious again. It was not the structure or the amount of talls we had, how many ******* times did we turn the ball over in the middle.
Keep thinking.

Why did we turn it over? These are AFL players, they've proven they have the skill. Ball movement and structure are connected.

Firstly, if you have more than one target up forward it spreads the defense. It means there is more space. more space makes easier kicks and less intercept marks from the oppositon.

Secondly, having a second and third tall means one can push up, meaning there is an outlet in the middle of the ground, enabling, once again, for the bail out kick to be much more effective. Instead of SGray or Neade being out marked, you get a contest.

Port Adelaide have good enough foot skills, it's the confidence and instinctive ball movement which causes turnovers. That is caused by a poor structure.

Perhaps. I still think JT should take the biggest forward each week. Would've been perfect for Reid - which would've allowed Howard to go forward.

The surgeon was explaining the surgery to the nurses (and me kinda). He forgot that I had a heap of old LARS fibers in there that needed to be cleaned out so misjudged the timing. I corrected him. Laughs were had all round. Mine due to the gas but I quickly checked to ensure the left knee had "this one" written on it.

Seems silly until you've experienced having to go back to hospital a month later to get a scan to find a metal tooth from a tool they used and noticed it was missing in an audit.

We provide doctors and surgeons with many accolades, respect and money. I am telling ya, half of them are absolute muppets and probably fluffed their way through med school thanks to Dads trust fund.

Not true. I will always admit when I am wrong, but its my personality type to check things over and over again to ensure that its as infrequent as possible.

Truth be told I actually love finding out when I am wrong, people like me (INTJ) crave new information. Its like a drug.

And definitely male, last time I checked.

I think the whole Myers Briggs thing can be taken too far, but its actually a really effective and interesting psychological tool for understanding yourself, your strengths and your weaknesses. And others. It's changed a lot of how I deal with people IRL.

Try it. Open your mind a bit.
