This is why they will win the Premiership IMO. When we beat them at Elizabeth, they had 21 AFL-listed players and suffered because of it. They were unbalanced. They will certainly be better of with Summerton, Sharrod, Biemanns, Reynolds etc. And they will want to make it count because I am sure some of these league players who have played ressies most of the year will surely move on in 2018.

For what its worth, whoever wins in the Port v Sturt clash this week will probably be the first team to qualify for the GF when they follow up with a W against the Eagles the week after.

This is exactly what it does, it provides us with an opportunity to get more balance, drop a few 18 year olds and bring in harder older bodies for finals. Hardly a disadvantage and another quick fix **** up by the SANFL ( see media thread ).

Yes, there will be some movement of senior players who spent most of the year kicking off at 11:30am.

So what was the explanation given for Port being allowed to having Summerton in the first place?
IIRC, Port failed in their attempt to force the reserves issue, and it took the Crows throwing their weight around to get their team accepted on the second or third round of voting. Port Power was then allowed to have a reserves team in the SANFL following the Crows breakthrough. How then did they end up with a better deal than the Crows, considering all they did was ride in on their coattails?
My understanding of the quota for top up players in finals, is to protect the heritage clubs being overrun by AFL talent at the business end of the season. As many have observed, this rule will actually help Port this campaign owing to the fact that Summerton is a gun, and not a fringe reserves, or budding amateur league player, the likes of which the Crows top up their side with.

Why not the Eagles? Do the umps desert them in September or something? Starting to appear positively Glenelg-like in the major round in recent years.

Port certainly think they've got it in the bag. They don't rate Sturt, Eagles or Norwood. Straight from the mouth of a Power player last night.

Conversely Glenelg is looking more Woodville and/or West Torrens like in September. Stands to reason I guess.

Butcher and Glen are massive ins together with alot of youing players on the rise

Closer to the spoon than a Premiership. Everyone had the Dogs as making finals but things just havnt clicked and their season is over with 4 games to go.
For me they have been the most disappointing side in the comp this year

Sorry for being the most disappointing side in the comp and adding to that disappointing feeling for you ;)

At the time they were disappointing. That list should of been fighting for the minor Premiership not scraping into the 5 at the last minute

Wouldnt back Port with stolen money.
We all saw what happens when the AFL side is knocked out. Anyone remember the 'fixed' prelim from last year?

am Bays wrote:Sturt - too much quality and the best coach and system in the SANFL

Centrals - Good ins to build on the 2nd best side of the 2nd half of the 2016 season
Adelaide - Too much quality and those that run their medical and fitness dept will see them have a good run with injuries upstairs
Eagles - Will slide a bit but Godsy is worth two to three wins with his nous alone to get them into the finals
Norwood - the cheque book has been opened

Port - Thought they'd make finals due to ahving Eddy but he'll play upstairs more than down
Glenelg - McBean will straighten us up and the best 18s in the comp from 2016 will transition to play good senior football but not enough to get in the 5 I think. Watch for Edwards, Martini, Walker and MIlera (jr). Scharenberg HTF did he not get picked up???
North - Wouldn't be surprised if they make the five with how they developed under Carr late last year. Missing some quality though.
West - will improve on last year.

South - No Gotch (see comment on Godsy), No Eddy and depth players gone. Will struggle

All IMO

So on 13/03/2017, I basically got Port and Adelaide mixed up and thought South would be more sh!t than they actually were ;)

Oh yeah and I forgot how small Eddy's heart is
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
