Ok, well at least our calls are staying the same.

Maybe some of the money coming in might be able to be spent on actually rewarding the winners and not a 5min You tube video and call past HQ when you can and collect your medal!

How things have changed.

Yep, they should award them on D1 / D2 medal night
Oh, hang on; that's what they used to do. They all got invited

2 winners turned up last year and it wasn't much better the year before

Maybe the League could put cut outs on the stage

BTW, the D1 / D2 clubs pay for the night anyway and they do turn up

not to mention the disrespect shown to Sponsors and Life Members who are standing on stage waiting to present to them and they don't turn up. Yes the same Sponsors that help keep the call costs down to Clubs ;)

Fix the award to make it more credible, that'll raise the prestige, then people will want to go.

With as much respect to the winners as possible the awards in the lower grades have been utterly laughable for years.

No they wont.

People don't make the effort to train these days
People don't make the effort to play games these days
People don't make the effort to get back to their own club awards each week
People don't make the effort to attend their club presentation evenings.

People are not going to make an effort to attend an awards ceremony hosted by the league.

Understand, that is a broader macro sort of issue that is affecting everything related to footy though.

You would definitely see an upswing if the medals had an improved voting methodology. Especially if it was done by the coaches as they'd be the ones championing it through the year.

I turned up to collect my medal mainly because I'm thirsty for public accolades

And thats why i remember it being such a great night, over to the West Thebby for a few beers and then stroll across.

West Thebby used to look like the start of The Warriors movie with everyone wearing their club colours.

that was the count night and even that the numbers fell off, hence why it was moved to online

The medal night has always been at a different venue, venues being Angle Park, Footy Park, the joint at Findon and last few years at Grab a Granny's

Yes i understand that, does the League think if you could actually take a partner or buy extra tickets more people would show up?

On another note, was it actually mentioned to the clubs that the Div3 and below medals wernt going to be presented and had to be collected at Thebby. I must of missed that newsletter if it was.
