I don't think morell is taking this club in the right direction, He hasn't got everyone pulling together and doesn't appear to be investing the required time and energy into improving our club.

I vote we sack him.

Much like the fact that a coach in Ken with no GF appearances or wins has secured a 3 year extension on crippling coin, I want to keep morell in the job

There's wrong. Then there's out and out lies.

I am ok with someone putting out there a

"I reckon Hinkley might be going to the Gold Coast" type op ed.

But this was a "Hinkley has left Port and accepted a 5 year deal" type factual article.

Absolutely deplorable.

Read his Monday article, read his Tuesday article.

Monday - Hinkley has asked to be released from his contract.

Tuesday - Peter Blucher ( Hinkleys manager ) was part of the Tippett scandal

Where do you think he got his information from? He got it from a manager who was throwing lines out to get his client the best deal he possibly could.

He got fed bullshit, he bought the bullshit and ran with it.

Yes, and he was not asked "Did you ask to be released from your contract?"

And he doesn't need to be because his opening statement was he's a man of his word, he's contracted for 2018 and he will be coaching Port Adelaide in 2018.

So you can take it the release comment was bullshit then, can't you?

Ok, there's one point we are discussing here, did he ask to be released from his contract?

I do not believe that's the case, it's not something you sort of ask about, get knocked back and then sign on for 3 more years a few days after reportedly doing so, is it? Do I believe his manager might have thrown it out there to get a better deal, yep, I do.

If you want out, you want out. Naive. pfft.

My point is, Port were nowhere near completing the contract extension with Ken, talking about trying to get it done closer to Christmas. GC come along, and all of a sudden, he's signed to a ridiculous $ contract on more years than the original plan, for a non premiership (or GF) coach.

Something has triggered it...and it can't just be "interest" in Ken cause if Ken was so adamant he's not leaving, why rush it?

At the end of the day, Ken Hinkley is a massive winner in this.

Hinkley noted the contract talks were continuing, meaning they had already had discussions. How you have any idea that they were "nowhere near completing the extension" is as much bullshit as the article in the Australian.

What a coincidence.
Media reports Ken wants out of his last year (including many Port media), and the next day, he's signed as part of "continued contract talks".

Post Koch's post-game comments KT ( this is last week, before all the kerfuffle, for the slower ones playing along ) noted that the contract extension talks were already underway but as Hinkley was completing exit interview for the playing group that was put aside for the time being.

You might have read that in the Advertiser you grabbed off the front lawn?

Hinkley was never leaving but used the Gold Coast offer for greater leverage to his already discussed and ongoing contract extension conversation.
He bought himself an extra $100k a year.

Well played Ken and moreso his manager.
