Morell where am I going wrong here?!

They can't beat top 8 sides....... that's where they're going wrong mate ;)

You don't rate Dixon?

I do, it would be between him and Jack as the "marking" key forward in the game. Kennedy as well be his more lead up than those two imo

So why does Richmond's setup work, and Port's does not?

Wingard and Gray provide no pressure whatsover. Thats taken without looking at stats or a graph, just going by feel of what i see. Ball comes out way to easy from Ports forward line. Gray is to busy arguing with the umpire to lock it in, once he cant get the ball he is out of the play. Wingard similar, Bottom line they both dont have an appetite for tackling, they are your classic KB type, goal hungry

Daniher would have to be up there as one of the key marking forwards surely? (Disclaimer: No stats to back that up)

Totally agree. I'd say it would have a fair bit to do with them being ****** from playing midfield as well.

I'm on record as saying I prefer Wingard as just a forward. He's 2x AA in that position. Gray I love as 50/50 - not fussed if he doesn't run around like a blue arse fly. Just play his role - and kick goals and win critical clearances.

We really need an Atley or Drew to develop so that final rotation in the guts doesn't cost us burning one of these two.

Played 3 games this year and looked a little over awed in the second and third, went back to the SANFL accordingly.

One of the better players in the GF Sunday, I expect and hope he's part of our starting line up in 2018, shows lots of promise. Probably, like all kids, needs to develop more midfield level endurance over the summer.

I thought he was in a group with Tippett? As it turns out he's actually in the top 10 goal kickers and in the top 3 for marks.

Good stats, they back up what I was saying. :D

Actually this might say otherwise........

Mind you, these days, marks can be misleading for the "power forwards".
Travis Cloke used to take heaps of marks......... on the wing.... on the HBF...........

He's always had the ability and size, always gave the impression the grey matter & remaining injury-free would be his biggest challenges. Most big blokes don't play their best footy til 27-30 imho, so Port definitely have that focal point to build a forwardline around.

Plenty on here knocked us for taking him due to his durability, I think the knock should have been on the GC Suns fitness crew and not Dixon himself. There's little doubt he's benefited from being involved in a world class physical performance set up.

Games per year :
Gold Coast
2011 - 10
2012 - 12
2013 - 13
2014 - 14
2015 - 16
Port Adelaide
2016 - 18 of 22
2017 - 23 of 23
PAFC. Forever.

Stats are overrated, anyone who watched Ports games could see the impact Dixon had this year, Jimmy should stick to watching PAC where the only stat that matters is contested ball in the shower rooms
