You shouldnt get promoted for being the best minor round team! Leave it as it is you dont deserve to get promoted if you finish top and dont make the gf

Seems like the right thread...
May have been discussed previously, but just a brief comment - if a team loses points under the AAA provisions, and gets relegated despite winning enough to otherwise stay in that Division, isn't that giving a club which has transgressed CFL expectations an unfair advantage the following year in the lower Div? ie, you potentially get a premiership for being naughty?
Would it not be better to relegate and then start the following year with the same cumulative penalty as per the season you were relegated in?
eg - lose 6 points for transgressions --> end up relegated --> start the following year 6 points in the red.
Thoughts?

Its an interesting thought. But I see that as double punishment. IMO, you either start the following year in the same division on negative points, or you lose the points that year, which often can mean relegation..

Using Rosewater as an example, they stayed up by literally less than a goal % wise I think it was in the end, so its not like they were a dominant div 5 side who is now being relegated to div 6.. They were a kick away from being there anyway

Pooraka another case, they won enough games last year to finish 7th in div 4, but ended up in div 5 due to transgressions, now you'd expect them to have dominated div 5 on the back of that, they finished 5th. So its not like they were gifted a flag. Mind you they find themselves in a prelim final this weekend, but they have been far from gifted that success due to AAA

So O'Sullivan Beach/Londsdale are moving to the Amateurs. You would think they'll start in Div 7. How will their inclusion affect relegation/promotion?

Lonsdale would go ok in D6. Would start warm favourites for a top 3 finish in D7.

Marion are suitable for D7. Would go close to finals still.

Fair enough, I just thought with Brighton being Div 2, Morphy's Div 3 and Edwardstown Div 4 standard that they would be around Div 5 or 6.

Wouldn't have thought Lonsdale have got within 15 goals of these teams for years. Could only beat Marion this year in SFL. Div 7 sounds about right.

For Marion and OSB/Lonsdale Div 7 is perfect fit to rebuild and get that winning feeling back. It's about their level but they will be very strong and it depends on how well they recruit. The last couple of years Marion has had the Carter brothers playing and they both went to Goody Saints this year and played Div 1 A's, both clubs have had some very good players but more importantly they are good people and I for one feel happy for them as the hard workers around their clubs deserve to get some reward for all their massive effort.

Now Lonsdale have the hint of potential success they will recruit very well put your house on it. They will waltz through div 7 and be in div 5 within 3 years.

They will definitely have a big home ground advantage at the unique school ground. It seems a couple of decent players playing well below their standard can be the difference in the lower divs. They have plenty of former juniors and seniors at other SFL clubs who may be tempted to return with the change of comp so it will be interesting to see what sort of squad they can assemble. The appointment of a new Senior Coach will be crucial for any new or returning players they can attract.

If Marion continue to pay the eye watering wages for below average A grade players next year like they did this year they will be the highest paying club in Div 5-7 by a mile...

Morrell would know some of the players that they recruited from MP to play A grade this year and the money they were on...

I tend to agree that OSB would almost be a lock for Div 7 top 3 - but i think they would be ok in Div 6 if they were put there
