Hearing you, I can leave work now but I know I'll get too comfy in the pub and forget to pick the missus up from work.

I need to know if @Pag has a contingency plan in place for this weekend.

Looks like he's lucky enough to be going to the GF (Richmond supporter) but Mrs Pag is due to drop their first bundle at any time now.

Could your first child be that inconsiderate Pag ;) - just think, Kids birthday parties every year on GF day ;)

The worst place to read comments are on cricket articles on CricInfo or Facebook! Just a constant slanging match between Aussies, Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. Horrible reading

The dog is already named Dusty. About as much as I could get away with.

No contingency plan at this stage, driving over 2am Saturday morning, eight hours in Melbourne for the game, back in the car and driving straight home (with a nap in the backseat if/when fatigue kicks in).

Wish us luck.

I left at 4am a couple of years ago for a twilight game and didn't have much time to play with, the traffic will be bedlam, I take it you're going pretty much straight to the game then?

We stopped twice, Keith and Nhill, the bakery at Nhill is worth the visit.

Done the drive 3 times in the last year and it's 8 hours from the Toll Gate to Dear Park Macca's.

Anyone who says "Oh, it's 8 hours to Melbourne" is full of shit. It's 10 hours from CBD to CBD especially when the roads will be crawling with Roman soldiers.

Safe travels.

I was gonna post that but I thought I'd get shot down in flames.

Might be 8 hours if everyone sat on the same speed and there were no trucks, buses or caravans on the journey.

It's just not 8 hours, simple.

It's 700km from the Toll Gate to Deer Park ( I clocked it my last trip ) and with road works periodacally from Ararat on wards, the towns you have to get down to 80>60 and some 80>50 as well as stops to stretch the legs, dunny, drinks, dunny ( if you've got women you'll need at least 3 more stops ) then it's about 9 hours at best.

Deer Park is 20 minutes from the West Gate Bridge.

Usually takes us 8.5 to 9 hours including two quick stops for food to get to Melbourne's CBD.
But we usually don't have much traffic going over for Geelong games.

It's a lot quicker now than it was in the early 90s.

I remember coming back with some mates in the 90s and we were hungover as hell, had to wait for a mate to get to our accommodation before leaving as he kept falling out of cabs. Made about 10 stops on the way home and took us about 12 hours.

Anyone knows the laws around bike rack number plates.
I know I need a number plate for the bike rack that I have on my car and have just ordered one.
It's going to take 10 working days though.

I'm assuming it's illegal to take the number plate off the back of the car to put on the bike rack in the meantime?

I can't find anything on the department of transport website that's says it is or isn't illegal?

Anyone actually know?

its not illegal to borrow the one off the back of the car. getting the separate bike rack plate is all about convenience. saves having to swap it each time you put the rack on or take it off

however, as alluded to by LM, if you will be driving at night, it will need to have a light on it to show up the plate.
