Maybe they could be two shades of green.

Just my thought.. the egos at each club would be far too proud to explore such an idea..

Apologies if I"m asking silly Marion questions but they're literally an unknown to me (and I'm too lazy to look them up)

We're all bored Brodlach, I'm sure MP has no plans to go anywhere!

In all seriousness though, given how difficult it is for clubs competing for players, sponsors and juniors these days - do people think amalgamation of clubs should be explored a little more?

1. We play at Mitchell Park You can have select handful of home games each year, plus your own separate jnr football entity to remain. Sacred Heart will assume Mitchell Park as the home ground during winter to ensure the ground continues to gain usage.
2. Mitchell Park is in the name Can't see why/how a hyphenated 'Marion-Mitchell Park' wouldn't work
3. We wear green Being the predominant colour of Marion, this shouldn't be a concern.

I'd be very surprised. At least not the plan they consulted with.

Most clubs are too proud to go down that path and mergers become about people rather taking up the fight and dying than swallowing pride. This time last year we were talking about the Pulteney/Glenunga supposed merger talks. We all know the result of that.

Marion would have some of the best facilities in the AdFL, so no need to upgrade MP.

Very true, but people should but the pride and egos aside and think about longevity for the future. Players aren't loyal these days, so what value is there in members remaining loyal to a bygone era?

Pulteney and Glenunga came out pretty good this year, but Glenunga are on the rise as a club, and Pulteney despite winning the flag will continue to be a battling club with no juniors, no clubrooms, average facilities and not a great connection with the school football program.

Some clubs just seem like "right" fits for each other i.e. Mawson Lakes/Para Hills, Mitchell Park/Marion, hell even North Pines/Central United

Agree with you, frankly it's about your junior structure. Clubs that are strong in that area will remain strong and develop providing they hold on to them and get them playing up. If you don't have a junior system that has them coming through over the next 4 or 5 years consistently you will always be chasing your tail, or paying out hard earned $$$$ to stay alive.

Could work, only reason i didn't suggest those two is both clubs have reasonable facilities and juniors/girls teams.

Mawson Lakes has nothing.

I'd be amazed if the concentration of teams around the Salisbury area remains as it is in 10 years time.

Would have thought a few of Brahma, North Pines, Salisbury North, Salisbury and Salisbury West will either merge or cease to operate.
