7/144. Should win it from here. Have bowled well. Neser and Floros are no bunnies though. One more wicket and I'll relax.

Absolutely RIDICULOUS addition to the Laws of cricket.
Just cant see any logic to it at all.
Cricket is a competitive sport and deception is a key tactic to attaining an edge over the opposition as it is in most sports.
I cant understand how anyone even thought this was an issue to start with the bring in such a law?
I cant recall anyone being Run Out because of it and if there has been the batsmen only have themselves to blame surely.
Ive perhaps seen a few occasions where batsmen may not have run due to it but thats credit to the fielding team surely?

Maybe im missing something here? Could someone please enlighten me if i am?

Glad im not the only one not happy about it.
Indian commentator just going on about how stupid it is. The most ridiculous law change hes ever heard of he said. Not often i'd agree with an Indian commentator but hes spot on with this one. Ludicrous, Ridiculous, Completely lacking in logic

There have been a few adjustments to the laws of cricket over the years that have just kept the game up with modern times but this particular law is quite simply an unnecessary bolt from the blue. Since when has there been a problem with the type of conduct they are talking about that supposedly brings the spirit of the game into question? Surely a law change like this may be more appropriate for u/10s or something but not competitive senior cricket !

Well since someone has fallen foul of the new rule on the first day perhaps it is more of a problem than we think....

Nic Maddinson, the definition of a flash in the pan cricketer made 137 from 119 today in a man of the match performance against Tasmania. I've just watched the highlights of his innings and gee he's awesome to watch, just hits the ball so cleanly. It's too bad he's the most inconsistent batsman in the country.

Will there be a 5 run penalty for keepers appealing for a catch down leg side to dupe the umpire out of a wide call?

Load of pus rule.

i think it's an art, the batsman is allowed to fake where he is standing, can pretend to take a run then stop, switch hit etc.

Cricket is turning into AFL.

Exactly right.

Bowlers can deliver a slower ball.

It's the art of deception.

Meh I don’t see an issue with it. It’s not really in the spirit of the game and not a core part of the game so I don’t see an issue with them outlawing it.

With regards to leg side keeper catches - excessive appealing is already outlawed - maybe they could police that a bit better

Outlawing something that was never an issue to start with ?

And yes, i agree that excessive appealing is one thing that should be cracked down on. Its a blight on the game. Umpires are under enough pressure with out players appealing for things they know are not out.

It started becoming a more common occurrence last season.

I don't mind it being outlawed, it's just stupid anyway.

i didnt say it wasnt an issue - personally i havent really seen it but there must have been some impetus for the change

my point was it doesnt affect the game - cricket is still cricket if you cant fake a runout.
