No doubt, perhaps I have more parochial Crow friends than Port.

This place is hardly anything to judge on though, a lot of faceless avatars where people can sling some shit without consequence.

FWIW, I think Adelaide will remain in the hunt next season, Port will struggle to make the 8.

A fall from grace for Richmond wouldn't surprise. Still wondering how that bunch of squibs beat us so comfortably.

Well, Jacobs was left to ruck on his own, but the Richmond midfield read his taps better, Adelaide struggled to break free from the contest and Richmond tapped, scrapped, bumbled, hussled and did anything they could to keep the ball going forward.

Meanwhile Adelaide's forwards were playing statues, winning comfortably I might add, as the Tigers applied endless amounts of pressure to the Adelaide defenders who crumbled under the squibs pressure.

More?
PAFC. Forever.

I was getting concerned as early as the first quarter. But for bad kicking Richmond could easily have been in front. I felt that the warning signs were there already as Richmond seemed to be winning enough of the ball but we got 2 early and 2 late goals which flattered us. The second quarter was then diabolical for us and I was almost writing the game off at half time.

I felt we needed to get the 1st two goals of the 3rd quarter to get the scores even to have any hope. Richmond were on a hot run full of confidence after their second quarter and I felt if we slipped even just one goal further behind it would be enough to flatten us. They got the first two as it turned out and it was all over.

Our game style is based on confidently moving the ball fast into our forward line and letting the forwards run rings around the defence and do what we want. Richmond suffocated all that quick movement rendering the forward line useless.

Very disappointing but at the same time cudos to the Tigers.

Full credit to Richmond though. They played a high intensity game just as they had in their other two finals.

Plenty of room for Taylor to place his valuable 'Captain of the Year' awards on the flight home, the chocolate inside them might melt in the overhead lockers.

That's the most on point thing you've said - in terms of final premiership standings, Richmond are most certainly in front of you.

Agreed, go back and read the last few pages a few of us have questioned the Adelaide coaches box.

Whilst I'm sure they tried a few things in the second and third quarters it didn't seem to be anything of significance. Walker behind the ball, Betts on it, Laird on it, Cameron to half back, Brown/Otten/Jenkins all in tracksuits. Anything.

Mate in footy/performance terms, there is a massive difference between a "team" and a "side"

If none of those things have been planned or trained for then it's arguably pointless though. There's a setup that's got them this far I am not sure what's achieved by throwing it all out mid-game. We were down on the basics - contested possessions, disposal efficiency, etc. That's what needed to lift and get the ball quickly down to Tex and Betts and co and let them do what they have been doing all year.

Tex is not quick enough to be in the back six unless he is playing the KPP Rance role and in that side of the ground he isn't good enough to clean Rance's boots. He'd be lost down there. Hartigan fills that role. It would be like the Modra's last game for the Crows (1998 final v Melbourne) when Blighty put him to half back to make a point. Point made, fine. Did it make us win that game? No.

Betts isn't strong enough to play on ball he'd just be another outside player running around the midfield doing nothing and we had enough of those already. Plus if we did manage to get the ball it wouldn't had mattered if our best forwards weren't down there.

Laird to the mids? Maybe. Cameron to half back? Maybe. After the 10 minute mark, I don't reckon he was fit enough to even play forward pocket let alone try to emulate McLeod from 97-98.

I think there's changes to plug holes or switch matchups and I think they tried a few of those. Then there's changes for the sake of changes and I don't reckon the ones you listed there would have made any difference.
