basically time to retire, but if he can get one or two years at a place close to home, why not try and make it happen. you are a long time retired

got no issue with players his age wanting to do this

I'm surprised Geelong are keen on him to be honest. They're still thinking this senior group has one more flag in them.

two losing prelims. why not have a crack at it. as freo, west coast, st kilda and even hawthorn have found out, the premiership window can slam shut very quickly. may as well have one last crack at it

Mackie and Lonergan closed it on their way out.

Finished 2nd both years so no denying the quality of the group, but bundled out both years in the prelims by sides who lost the GF means they're close but not quite up to the top couple. ( Might have been lucky in '16, beat the Hawks in the 1st final by 2 points IIRC ).

I don't see Ablett making up for the loss of Mackie and Lonergan and Taylor going 32 and a banged up Selwood 30.

im inclined to agree with you, but anything can happen, as richmond and the dogs have proven. one more year of being around the mark is worth it imo. cant blame them for one last crack at it

Considering his father died when he was young, he actually is a "mumma's boy".

I'll leave this for Port and Crows fans to discuss:

Mark Williams believes it is hard for Adelaide to retain players as the club is "manufactured" and lacks "history".

I'm not a crow fan but I think he's just throwing a hand grenade.

27 years in the AFL now I'd suggest there is a bit of history there, there is something not quite right there though.

Choco Williams seems to be quite vocal in the media the last month or two, saying some controversial stuff.

No problem with him wanting to go home but don’t sign a multi year contract and demand it be heavily front loaded and then bail with a year to run on it

This is his second contract though, isn't it?

He signed a 5 year deal ( 11/12/13/14/15 ) and from memory added 16/17/18?

Yes, he extended it by a further 3 years for 16/17/18. At the time it was reported he demanded it be front loaded heavily and it was allegedly worth $3.2m over 3 years. Has been reported the breakdown was
16- $1.4m
17- $1.1m
18- $700k

Look what you done to Betts!

I agree Eddie at Carlton was inconsistent to say the least, now he is just inconsistent at the MCG

Parts of the statement has merit but for most it's all about the ca$hi$h these days, at all levels of senior footy.

Would you say by that, that Geelong have a retention issue?

Would like to see the stats of players traded against their will or for the clubs best interest versus players requesting a trade out

No one can traded against their will, they have to agree

That’s different, either get traded or delisted I know what I would want to take. Not many $300,000 jobs available for the unemployed
