Anyone have issues with umpires being overly keen to apply the recent law changes. One of the umpires at our game was suggesting a player's bat was too wide and warned several batsmen for encroaching the protected area when batting which is Law 41.15.

Isn't there a 3 year grace period for rule changes to equipment at amateur level?

i feel like there is only 1 umpire that would do this and he is in A3! he loves to quote the rule book to you

The College sides seem to be struggling.

Looking at the sides listed for this week, Pooraka's XI played a combined 103 games of A1 cricket last year, while PAOC's total is just 33.
Over at SPOC you've got Bailey, OJ, Harrington, Muldoon and Sheikh all who have left the club apparently.

Pembroke obviously got relegated last season while Concordia, SHOC, Trinity, Pulteney and Iggies all stuck down in A3.

ROCs might be the only college side heading in the right direction.

No issue up at Athelstone, Iggies have had a good pre season and numbers on the track!

There's one in b1 that can quote his version of the rules verbatim!

I assume you are referring to the guy with initials DS. I like how you say he know his version of the rules. A mate of mine umpired a T20 game with him last year and he over turned his LBW from square leg. Better off umpiring your own games.

Hahaha.
He turned up at our end of season presso night to present a ball to a bowler for a five fa.
Told an extremely experienced umpire once to just do square leg, he'd take the hard stuff. Lol

I heard it was only a three fa too, not even a Michelle! Would have been a long bus ride down to Reynella!

Dylan, 4 matches, 1 wicket, 1 score over 4 (16).

No one wants to play these games, waste of time.

This was posted before last year's SAMCA cup games.

I note Dylan played B1 on the weekend, picking up 1 wicket from 32 overs.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

I'm only seeing two outrights. Ingle Farm over Flinders Park and Old Iggies over Goodwood' B Grade. Not totally surprised by those results. There a big gap between the good sides in A2 and any side in A3. Flinders Park certainly found this out. They don't seem to have recruited anyone, their bowling is steady at best and their batting looked very fragile.

Good to see your recruits fire Senor

56 to Chubs
77 to Chrissy
43 to Jarrad + 4fa

Good returns.

Also pleasing to see Atherton came to his sense and stuck around.

Question is, how did the Sandercock ego cope over the weekend only picking up 2 wickets in each innings? :P :D

He'll be fine. That's two more wickets than he took in round 1 last year. It's good to see others stepping up and taking wickets. Good start by the Farmers, but long way to go.

Fulham batted week 1 and I notice Ryan Bone was absent. I don't care how good a player he is, going into a game with a player that is only available for 1 week in an A Grade competition is crazy. Good effort by Pooraka to chase down that score, but remember Fulham would probably be in A3 if it wasn't for Bone coming back late in the season and saving the day.

A Grade won.

Passed PAOC's score of 160 odd 4 or 5 down.
Not sure what the final score was.
