Not necessarily, a lot can happen in 12 months. Either of those boys could miss next years carnival through injury, or not perform as well as other lads. Crows could bundle a 1st and 2nd rounder to get further up the order. Clubs with academies could use their earliest selections on those players. Who knows? But the Crows have positioned themselves to have decent options next year that's for sure.

If Adelaide finish 4th and Carlton finish 15th the basically the Crows pay Pick 7 and Pick 69. Good deal

The whole points thing is useless. Only good for F/S or academy bids.

Booney if Carlton finish the same position next year as they did this year we also get 21 and 39 back from Carlton.

So it’s hardly purely 10 and 16 as you are trying to say it is.

I also worked it out like that dude on trade radio, and it works out to be pick 7 and 69

Which sounds a lot better than “two first rounders”

We have also pushed our picks into next year. By all reports pick 21 next year could actually be worth more than 16 this year

Justin Reid, 2016

Is there a table for these points?
I would be interested to compare the points from last years 2 first rounders, to the combined points for this years deal, and see if this years is 25% less than last years (Gibbs has 3 good years left rather than 4 this time last year).

I'm with Morrell though, no point playing safe and finishing 4th. If you think your time is now, have a crack and hope it works.

Cheers mate.

So last year the deal was 2016 Pick 15, and 2017 Pick 17 = 2137pts.
This years deal is costing 1841pts (assuming approx. posies on the future picks).

So a 13.9% discount on Gibbs getting a year older.

Eagles rate this years draft for WA prospects and have basically admitted they need a rebuild. Will get 4-5 kids this year and reload

Our media and PR manager rocked up about 15 minutes ago, they don’t do anything without a done deal.
Essendon people are saying 25 & 30 to the Dogs for Stringer and the Dogs to then offer up 25 plus Lin Jong for Schache

Imagine if Carlton finished higher than Crows...

Won't happen, but this forum would be pretty entertaining for a couple of days if it did.

Gibbs the big winner, leaves the cellar dweller to a contender, comes home and gets a 4 year deal on better coin than his last 2 were at Carlton.

He's still called "Gibbs" though so....

The rebuild is still at least another year away from rebuilding properly.
Lecras,MacKenzie,Schofield, Karpany, Jetta all gone next season. That's hoping Wellingham and Hill get the boot this season and we just pay Masten out for the remainder of his contract and get rid of him.
Now we don't have a first rounder next season to replace any of these blokes.

Where did you hear that from? Roo was pretty adamant this morning that he will be on less money at the Crows than he was at Carlton.
