Port left a bit shortchanged on the Young and Austin deals IMO. Especially Austin as he'll be best 22 for St Kilda.

He'd be a real long shot to play AFL but yes, there's back up for the back up if really needed.

Lots of people around the place have big wraps on big Billy Frampton. Looking forward to what he can offer us in 2018 and beyond.

Credit to REH on BigFooty for this PAFC trade period summation:

Need to do a summary of all these last minute movement. So starting point was as follows. GWS lost pick 15 because of Whitfield drug issue and being deducted 1,000 pts and first Rd only had 17 picks. The Whitfield adjustment of 1,112 -1,000 pts left them with 112 pts = pick 63 so 4th Rd had 19 picks and not 18.

Rd 1 pick 12 Traded out last year as part of getting 4 picks in top 30 move (before bidding adjs)
Rd 2 pick 29 became 31 after 2 FA compo picks
Rd 3 pick 47 became 49 after 2 FA compo picks
Rd 4 pick 66 became 68 after 2 FA compo picks
Rd 5 pick 84 became 86 after 2 FA compo picks
Rd 6 pick 102 became 104 after 2 FA compo picks

Jarman Impey, #67 (Port Adelaide) for #33, #61 and 2018 4th Round Pick (Hawthorn)

Brendon Ah Chee and a 2018 fourth round pick (Port Adelaide) for 2018 third round pick (West Coast)

Jack Watts (Melbourne) for #31 (Port Adelaide)

Aaron Young (Port Adelaide) for 2018 fourth round pick (Gold Coast)

Logan Austin and 2018 fourth round pick (Port Adelaide) for 2018 third round pick (St Kilda)

Matthew Lobbe (Port Adelaide) for #95 (Carlton)

#34 and 2018 fourth round pick (Port Adelaide) for #59, #63 and 2018 second round pick (St Kilda)

Two 2018 third round picks (Port Adelaide) for #46 and a 2018 third round pick (North Melbourne)

So Out of Original picks
Rd 2 pick 29 became 31 after 2 FA compo picks - Used to trade in Watts
Rd 4 pick 66 became 68 after 2 FA compo picks - was pick 67 when traded out with Impey trade

2017 Picks coming in
Pick 33 Impey trade which become pick 34 after compo adjs ( ie Jacko compo took it from 32 to 33 then Rockliff compo dropped Jacko's but Motliff Compo) becomes pick 34
Pick 61 Impey trade which after compo adj becomes pick 62
Pick 95 Lobbe

Pick Swap deals
In 59, 63 St Kilda 46 North
Out 34 St Kilda

Net left with 46, 49. 59, 62, 63, 86, 95, 104 ( I doubt we will use picks 86 onward)

2018 Picks

Ins
4th Round Pick (Hawthorn)
third round pick (West Coast)
fourth round pick (Gold Coast but Adelaide's pick after Wigg Trade with GC)
third round pick (St Kilda)
second round pick (St Kilda)
third round pick (North Melbourne)

Outs
fourth round pick (Port Adelaide)
fourth round pick (Port Adelaide ie the GC pick from the Wigg and Adelaide trade)
fourth round pick (Port Adelaide ie from Impey trade with Hawks)
Two 2018 third round picks (Port Adelaide)

NET
second round pick (St Kilda)
third round pick (North Melbourne)

So if 2018 ladder was identical to 2017 we would have 5 picks 12,30,48,66,84 ( ie no Whitfield effect) to start with, but trades in and out this year means we would have

12, 26 ( St Kilda) 30, 40 (North), 84 so have turned picks 48 and 66 effectively into 26 and 40, if 2018 ladder turns out identical to 2017.

We have a right to be pretty bloody pleased with the efforts of our list management.

3 ins to bolster our starting line up for R1 of 2018, and a heap of draft pick exchanges to net ourselves 3 picks inside the first 2 rounds of next years draft.

Well done CD and Crippa. Over to you Geoff.

When you read that trade summation, it's hard not to be super impressed with how smart these people in these roles are to manipulate and manage the movements to better their positions.

If Port and that’s a big if, get the 3 senior players fit and at top form they have done an incredible job.

And almost all clubs would think they're in a better position, not just one "winner".

To be fair, it is their full time, well paid jobs. They should be on top of it all.

Got a feeling the Austin one is the worst of that. He'll be a 200 gamer for the Saints.

Gain: Tom Rockliff, Jack Watts, Steven Motlop, 61, future picks.
Lose: Jackson Trengrove, Jarman Impey, Brendan Ah Chee, Aaron Young, Logan Austin, Matthew Lobbe, 31, 67, future picks.

That really is a lot of depth going out. Putting a lot of faith in the remaining younger lads to hold fort.

Who would be on Ports radar for this time next year? Do they have the coin left to lure another big name, or will that use that to lock away the likes of Wines and SPP?
