Just play a season or two of lawnbowls with your old man or kid, bars closer, can drink all the time, no running, no diving, no training and plenty of shade. It makes sense.

Ive hung around filling in when the club needs me, simply to be able to play with my lad, like I did with my Dad, was awesome when it happened last year for the first time, getting a bit awkward now as he plays for Flaggies [juniors] while I'm at Mt Lofty who are now in the same comp! No doubt next year he will want to play with his mates at Flaggies and ditch the old man, while I could never leave my club.

Now my 11yo is pushing me to keep playing so I can play with him also. :lol:

Dont think I will have the opportunity to play with either of my sons, but I coach them in both cricket & footy at Morphy Parks, and my daughter as well now in under 10 cricket. It is a great feeling, and very rewarding.
I followed my dad to cricket at Sturt District in the early 80's every Saturday & Sunday for years. He was B grade team manager, and I was scoreboard attendant, then scorer. Some of the happiest days of my life.

It's great playing cricket with your son. That is until you continually drop catches of his bowling, and become a liability in the field. Time to play down the grades!

So after finally finishing all of the foster training, assessments first aid, mandatory notification etc Etc, the Jase family have finally had our application submitted to the Department of Child Protection...

This leads me to two things that I'm looking forward to;

1. After discussions with our assessment team, if all ticked off by the department, we will be the proud foster parents of TWO little ones (siblings) ... :)

2. Finally getting back onto the Golf Course next Saturday... Though the old man has said there is plenty of Brown snakes about up at Sandy Creek at the moment so if it's in the rough, I ain't going in to get it.

Good times...

My old man played a lot of cricket in the mid north, I would go to all his games with him, explore each local footy oval and its surrounds every week, hanging out for my reward at the end of the day, a nice cold lemon squash at the local pub!

My lad got his first senior wicket on Sat, couldn't wipe the smile off his face, awesome.

All in all as good as can be expected, one broken bottle out the back, one pissed and in tears for what ever reason, all gone and the house/yard tidied up and I was in bed before 1.

Best case.
