Was it of the double centurion?

Yep.

Highest individual score in Sturt's history - men or women

It's both sides of the swords edge IMO. Yes it's great for the exposure and personal accolade for Annie but it's a blight on the competition on the other hand.

Southern lost their best player from last season and are rebuilding a young squad, Port lost 10 of their regular starting 11 from last season.

I'm pretty sure the CA womens contracts are in excess of 100K pa now, the WBBL are quite lucrative aswell, it's becoming bigger from the bottom up but as you pointed out, football has risen overnight with the introduction of AFLW, being a more spectator orientated sport helps enormously.

More girls playing at the younger age groups which is good. More girls junior competitions around the place and even a girls SAPSASA carnival like the boys have had for decades.

Challenge for the clubs is to turn these girls into club cricketers.

What usually happens though is poor playing numbers dictate that beginner 9-11 year olds get hauled up to fill numbers at 2nd or even 1st Grade level. Obviously they can't compete at that level, don't really bat or bowl, hate it and stop playing.

It might be the best thing for 1st Grade cricket to go back to four teams with the short term focus on establishing a 2nd grade team and junior structure for each grade club.

Yeah, tough road ahead for both clubs, Port is being active in getting out there amongst community clubs, they will beat one of the top 4 at some stage during the season.

More rain around

Becoming a weekly Thurs/Fri event unfortunately.

I see there's a dispute over a result in the C Grade. TTG vs Woodville. Apparently one of those one run/tie results where the books don't quite balance. Probably a race after the game between teams to lodge the results on MyCricket! They'll have to get the scrutineers to go over the books with a fine tooth comb :D

Batting showed Draw, Bowling showed 1 run win to TTG. So I think that means TTG get the points? would have been some interesting scenes :D

Two teams crowded around the scorers table with a poor 13 year old younger brother from one team and a 94 year old club stalwart from the other frantically trying to make sense of their scribblings!

You are normally on the ball Hound, so assume by that a player transfer may be going thru!

The only Northerns player worth getting would be Cosgrove. That would be massive story.

What do TTG need though? Their batting is their strength, their bowling line up is pretty average. If they still had Nick Winter, or someone similar, they would just about be favourites. But they will struggle to take ten wickets against the best teams.

Well he did have a fall out with Northerns, came out he to be Player/Coach but that all changed when he arrived. Things were not great between club and him after that.

Still don't know if that's what TTG need. Somerfield bowls similar medium pacers. Brad Evans near end of career, Oakley young and not ready, Macey not great spinner, few average medium pacers. No one really dangerous. Gatting could be the way he "works" the ball!!

Yes, has not bowled since that one game he did play. Stress fracture in foot. Hoping to play after Xmas. With Trent Kelly retiring, placed a lot of pressure on Renshaw and Williams, last year our strength was the four fast bowlers, teams could not make 200 against us. If we can win one or two of the next three games before Xmas, could still be sitting ok with Spencer to return in January. Not playing last week against Sturt after making 380 was pretty costly.

And rumours TTG had another big in confirmed yesterday, another Pom in Atkinson, just what they needed opening bowler. Played against his old team East Torrens and destroyed their top order.

Hope for their sake Gatting and Atkinson here for finals, most of the Poms head home before then. It's why Kensington and Glenelg fold every year in finals as they rely so much on them, same thing could happen to TTG this year.

Think that's Ben Atkinson, the big fella up from their Bs.

Not the Pom East Torrens had.

Tough day at the office for the Port kids in the U14 Reds.

All out 38 to Woodville 6/323 in a 40 over one dayer. Not much fun. Hopefully SACA can lend some support to help them bolster their playing stocks.

Who is to say 380 was enough given same conditions?? Spencer and Kelly out... that’s 4 wits a game... funny how buffs made 320+ with only one top level player... eagles good team, but only 3-4 sides that can actually take 10 poles weeks in week out - Ttg / kensi / uni / port

TTG second most wickets taken to this point..... Brad Evans bowling as well as he probably ever has, Oakley young and developing nicely ask the base of Mickan's middle stump, sommers with 14 poles, Macey 11 wickets including 5 against the weagles.... nah your right

TTGs strength is their bowling options. Matt Weaver, Brad Evans, Tim Oakley, Ben Hutchinson, Tim Evans, Adam Sommerfield, Josh Macey and Gatts now if he wants a roll.

Benny Atkinson in his 5th year at the club also showed he can step up and make an impact with the new ball at A grade level. Not bad for a POM
