Was there ever any announcement that Dogs v North would be locked in as a Good Friday game, alternating between both venues?

I've only assumed that was the arrangement after the game was scheduled at Prospect earlier this year.

Great arrangement IMO if that is the case.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Think Norwood v Sturt will play at the Parade in round 1, guessing Thursday night or Monday

Are you saying WAFL vs SANFL each year with alternating hosting?

If the other 3 comps are pulling out, does this spell the end of the state-based competition as we now know of it? I'm a strong believer in this competition as a way of testing each state's best against those from around the nation. Would be a pity to see it finish up.

Nice one Dogsbody. Just saw this article in the West Australian newspaper. Big turn of events.

With a Showdown set for AO on Saturday 12 May 4.40pm, I would suspect the State game vs WAFL be played on the Sunday?
Or do people think it might be played as a curtain-raiser to Adel vs Port?

Wouldn't surprise me if they kept Sanfl supporters from going.

The fixture is officially out tomorrow.

Get ready for the season to kick off with three Good Friday matches and a monster amount of Sunday games for the season.

SANFL 2018 FIXTURE
MORE Sunday afternoon games, three Good Friday clashes and no Thursday night matches are features of next year’s SANFL fixture.

The SANFL released its 2018 draw yesterday and has programmed more than half of its matches on Sunday afternoons.

SANFL football operations manager Tom Hurley told The Advertiser games on Sunday would increase average attendances because the league was not competing against junior sport.

Hurley said most Port and Crows AFL matches were also scheduled for Saturdays in 2018 so more Sunday state league games made sense to help boost attendances.

The average crowd on Saturday games in 2017 was 1990 as opposed to Sunday games where there were 2544,” Hurley said.

“I think fans generally have more commitments on a Saturday afternoon and it may also be related to matches ongoing at Adelaide Oval in conflict with SANFL football.

“I also think Sunday is a better opportunity for families to get out and have a day activity and the SANFL presents a great opportunity to do that.”

At very first glance, I like it. More night games. No Saturday night matches but there's a couple of Saturday twilight. One country game by the looks at Kadina. Norwood's Friday night matches are heavily back-ended this year but this isn't helped by the AFL fixture.

Must admit next years draw gives me the opportunity to go to a lot more games as this year had a heap of games on the same day as games at AO.If it results in me going to more games is another thing but it wont be hard to beat two.
