Treloar 2.0?
When do Port play Melbourne next year?

Now, having watched the interview he was asked a direct question as to who is closer to a flag, what do you expect him to say? It wasn't "comments" by Watts, it was in response to a direct question.

I watched the whole presser last night and some of the questions these "reporters" ask are ridiculous. I'd be no chance of playing a straight bat against half of the clowns who ask questions.

"What's the difference between Port and Melbourne?"

"Without throwing your old club under a bus, which club is better?"

The very last question was "Who is closer to a flag, Port or Melbourne?" - His answer was "Well,I'm here aren't I so what do you expect me to say?" He then went on to talk about the addition of Rockliff and Motlop to a side that played finals last year.

Classic off season click bait and, I ask again, what would anyone expect him to say?

At least 80% of player interviews during the season are so generic & unadventurous with both the questions & answers bordering on ho hum.
You can up that to 90% for the preseason. Honestly, why would we want to hear from players in December, what original insight are we going to get?

Totally agree, I watched yesterday's on the back of the click bait that came out yesterday afternoon and the questions are just dumb. Every presser in December would have 10 questions asked and 8 of the 10 would be the same at every club.

"So, been a hard start to pre-season?"

"How are you finding the new club?"

I don't hear that one get asked too often, mind you I can't remember the last Bruce and Cyril interview I heard.

the "why would I be here" line is rubbish.
Melbourne were getting rid of him regardless if he chose Port, or if he thought Melbourne were in a better position to win the flag.

Journo's are better off doing a report on each club and how their pre-season is going every couple of weeks during December & January rather than trying to interview someone every second day. It's just a waste of time. I didn't even need to watch the presser last night to know what he would have been asked. Fill the sports section with the cricket, soccer & basketball and limited AFL news and everyone would be happy.

Clubs are looking for anything to motivate their players and no doubt Melbourne will be all over this when they play, and so will the press...
Just can't give them ammo.

If professional footballers (let alone any footballer) need any additional motivation to win, they probably shouldn't be footballers...

Some interesting selections there.

Taking the phrase from BF- "the evolution of your best 22 for R1 2018", here is my crack:

FB: Houston/Clurey/Jonas
HB: Hartlett/Howard/Pittard
C: Polec/Wines/Ebert
HF: Watts/Westhoff/Boak
FF: Wingard/Dixon/S.Gray

1R: Ryder/Rockliff/R.Gray

I/C: DBJ/Motlop/SPP/Bonner (I’m going to back him to start R1).

It's going to be hilarious and ironic when the Dees play finals and the Power don't.
