Stoinis wont bowl much, and Richardson is a better prospect in a longer format than T20 I think.

Yeah, Stoinis can't be denied a gig after he burst on to the scene last year.
Zampa's form has been abysmal, I'd take Laughlin over Richardson, maybe they had left over shirts of Kane's.

My squad would've been:

Warner
Short
Head
Smith
Stoinis
M.Marsh
Carey
Cummins
Starc
Hazlewood
Lyon

Spares: Zampa and Laughlin.

I don't know why Lyon is only ear-marked for test cricket, he has excellent stats in the shorter version games.

 You're talking about a bloke who would be batting prob 5-7 in a ODI side here! He would be coming in with somewhere in the vicinity of 15 overs left, if that - "a dazzling 35" would be far more important than a gritty 50 by the time he strides to the crease.

He hits a hard ball, he scores fast, and he has unconventional shots - he's 5yrs younger than White and a more likely prospect for the next world cup.

they did bat him at 5 in the test side a couple of months ago.

hence the mixed messages towards him and the only likely conclusion, they think he is a dickhead and dont want to pick him

good point. was dropped a year or two ago when he was lacking confidence and it was the right call for him to just concentrate on getting his red ball cricket right. but now he is arguably the best spinner in the world at the moment, so why not pick him for ODIs

Laughlin seems to be another that's got a line through his name - his T20 stats and performances over the years have been as good as any, but still doesn't get a look in.

CA = boys club.

Mixed messages seem to be popular amongst CA - just like last year when White was overlooked for the NZ tour and Hohns sighted the reason as looking towards the future and an eye on the next world cup.. 12 months later and he's in

The kids and I used to pronounce his name the way it's spelt when we went to the BBL, it used to piss the people off next to us so we'd say it even more.

Richardson & Tye will rotate in to rest the quicks over the series, White will be lucky to see game time anyway.

The test playing quicks will be the ones rotating.

I'd leave Paine out altogether form the ODI's if they plan on keeping him in the test side for a few years, he's likely to snap a finger in the Nothing Cup.

Totally agree, finally shows his worth after years of busted fingers then has to play 50/50, talk about pushing a blokes luck.
He doesn't need to play one dayers.

still cant work out why khawaja and shaun marsh arent also in there (with maxwell)

khawaja at 3 instead of head, maxwell at 5 instead of stoinis, s marsh backup batsman

kind of agree about paine. could easily just let carey have a crack in the one dayers

You do know that Trav was the second highest run scorer for Australia in ODI’s last year don’t you?
Only Warner scored more

I’m happy he’s there, but do you think he’s a better bat than khawaja in any form of the game?

Trav has more than earnt his spot and is a useful bowler and much better fielder than Khawaja.

Khawaja still shits all over him with the bat, Heads not in the same postcode. Head has to open in one dayers and hes not in front of Finch or Warner, probably trhe worst player of spin in the country, even worse than Khawaja

Wood looks more threatening then anything we have bowled all summer. Pity he couldn't play in the tests.
