Wow, hall of fame. That's a very impressive effort, hats (helmets) off.

I'm keen to known how it feels to be 'enshrined' though, looking forward to a full report. ;)

Nah, it's a combined awards night. So they give out the All-Star awards. I'm pretty sure its things like MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive POY, and positional awards.

And then they induct past players into the HOF on the night.

I've played 3 seasons (1 shit, 1 decent and 1 good). No HOF for me.

Excellent work mate, be proud.

The way the Port presented for yesterday's TDU opening stage.

We walked down around 7:30, got a front and centre spot on the railing at The Lighthouse and had some very good eggs benedict, solid coffee and a read through the paper sitting nicely in the shade until around 9:30 when the sun popped up over the buildings. Had my first frothy at around this time, Dog Days Session Ale.

Clearly the PAE council had been on the job for several weeks, the median strips from Old Port Rd/Port Rd intersection were lush and well manicured, many of the local schools had made flags to adorn the buildings, all the pubs and restaurants were open for trade with breakfasts and coffee's. The place was well and truly alive.

Spoke with two lovely old couples from the eastern suburbs who were surprised by the amount of places open along the strip from the Admiral to the Lighthouse, they all listened closely to my reviews of the two wine bars in the area and I wouldn't be surprised if they're back into them this weekend! The two old ducks were on a champers at about 9am, they would have been up for a quick one* at any establishment I reckon. Good on 'em!

We watched all the support vehicles and buses full of riders come in right along side us about 10, we then went for a walk in among it all to soak up the atmosphere and about 10:45 ( for 11am start ) we went back to the wharf near the Lighthouse and watched them go over the Birkenhead Bridge and then the Diver Derek and off up the Express Way.

Went to the Lighthouse for one, the Commercial for one, the Admiral for one and despite Mrs Boon being reluctant the Newmarket for one on the walk home.

Very pleasant day.

Nothing better than a pub crawl through the Port!
Did it for a bucks show recently and it was better than any pub crawl I’ve done in town at the East End.

Highly recommend it on a Saturday or Sunday arvo.

It's taken a long time with plenty of failed predictions along the way but the Port really seems to be happening these days (and has been for a while now). Saw heaps of pics yesterday from friends on FB and the area presented awesomely.

I think the last 2-3 years has seen the level of investment by traders really increase. Obviously the Admiral is the most notable, but the Lighthouse, the Commercial, Korked, Harts Mill, the British, they've all spent money increasing the appeal of their venues.

This investment is real investment, I mean people have poured some serious cash into some of the buildings and businesses in the area and they've done that with a long term view, unlike previous incarnations where painting over cracks was the go. This time around the investment is reflecting the level of confidence the investors have in the area and that in itself is breeding confidence within their peers.

With the wider Port Adelaide area going through a phase of rejuvenation through the property market growth ( people are wisely looking at Semaphore Park > North Haven for affordable "beach side" living ) I think there's a level of confidence in the traders that we haven't seen before.

The growth of the Port with investment in the pubs, cafes and even wine bars is fantastic but I still feel it needs to introduce a retail vibe to it as well.
I know people have tried and failed but it needs retail to flourish to bring the ladies and more families in.

Did this with few mates about 6 months ago, started down at the Alberton and walked up into the guts of Port. Plenty of pubs to choose from!

Agree that an arvo is the right time, we did ours in the middle of winter starting late afternoon, so by the time we hit the Port proper by around 8:30pm a lot of the pubs were dead/closing. I'd say summer time is probably a better bet too.

North Adelaide and Norwood are good areas for pub crawls, done North Adelaide many times as a regular event.

And speaking from experience I think this confidence is reflected in people who are increasingly interested in checking out the Port.

As people who don't live in the Port nor have identified with it but live a quick car/taxi-ride away, my wife and I are increasingly finding excuses to head down and check out its wares. The increase in activity and interest is very noticeable. The key attraction for me is its history - you cannot separate the Port from its important role in the earlier days of the state as a key transportation hub, and a lot of that history still remains today. You can stick good pubs and restaurants anywhere, but the place has to have a hook to get you in, and for me its it living history that you can walk alongside and touch that makes it such an enjoyable and unique experience.

My wife's got a colleague who been living here for the past three years from the USA, and we've decided on day in the next few weeks to take him down to check out the Port. He's been to Semaphore, but his only experience was driving through the Port to get there. Another excuse to check out Korked, and perhaps the Admiral (if its quietened down since opening). And maybe the authentic Mexican place across the road. 8)

As a young buck our footy club would celebrate premierships with a crawl through the Port, pretty much all the pubs Booney mentioned and I'm talking 28 years ago. Kutchy still ran the Lighthouse back then and would match whatever amount we put over the bar (top bloke!!). Great days (at least what I remember of them)

Can't believe they gave it to him in cash!
I was at the pub when he told me so I rang his Mum who promptly drove to town to pick him up.
The money is safely deposited in the bank now.
He's already decided he's going to spend most of it on a car.
