Ahhh, I thought Lynn would open, I didn't assess the squad thoroughly enough.

I forgot that Finch still plays cricket.

He doesn't.

And he goes 100 > 100 > 60.

Good call!

I don't know but he comes across as the biggest, most arrogant dickhead in that squad. I wonder that if he doesn't like someone, he just makes it known and uncomfortable and doesn't give them opportunities if picked, which then puts pressure back on the selectors to pick someone else.

Don't know if anyone else noticed, but after Cam White's drop yesterday, Smith spent the rest of the over aggressively shaking his head and when the camera zoomed in appeared to be abusing the shit out of White.. went on for a good 3 balls.

Then he gets out, and acts the same, shakes his head and looks like a spoilt brat who is taking his bat and ball and going home.

David Warner - Everyone loves him, and he can be an explosive and dangerous batsman when he's on, but for me he's just too bloody inconsistent. Gets a free ride for the entertainment factor. He's had a few good runs - 124 v India late last year, back to back 100's vs Pakistan last summer, but appears feast or famine - either makes a big 100 or gets out for a 20 or 30.

Recent inn: 8, 35, 2, 53, 124, 42, 1, 25, 21, 40*, 18, 179, 130, 35, 16, 7

Aaron Finch - Fine run of form, 3x 100's and 3x 50's from his last 7 innings. Happy with him in the side, despite now being wrong side of 30.

Recent inn: 62, 106, 107, 32, 94, 124, 68

Steve Smith - makes batting look easy most times and is the captain and strong in the field. Obviously gets picked, but i'd prefer to see him bat at 3 and convert starts.

Recent inn: 54, 6, 73*, 55, 21, 4, 56

Cameron White - Probably the most random inclusion. Was overlooked for NZ tour last year despite a solid white ball season in Australia, Trevor Hohns indicating they're looking to the next world cup and he's not in plans.. suddenly comes in, and well frankly hasn't done nearly enough. His last ODI half century was back in 2010.

Recent inn: 55, 36, 50, 0, 4, 0, 76*, 1, 35, 50

Mitch Marsh - Whilst he shits me off, there is no denying his hitting power and could be a game changer at the next world cup. Needs more consistency, but i'm willing to back him in long term.

Recent inn: 17, 15*, 0, 20, 12, 8, 4*, 2, 22*, 22, 24, 20, 16

Marcus Stoinis - Game changer, big hitter, can accelerate but can also work the ball around. Averages 66.42 in ODI's thanks to some red ink, but he's a lock for the next world cup. I would like to see him bat higher up the order - perhaps even as high as 4.

Recent inn: 56, 4, 60, 46, 15*, 27*, 62*, 3, 42, 146*

Tim Paine - Widely recognised as the best gloveman in the country, and a fine cricketer in all forms. Reasonably consistent with the bat which helps, he's no mug.. my concern however watching last night, is I don't think he has the ability to go big when needed and accelerate his innings. He's more a worker of the ball, and it was costly last night - Buttler from England showed how dangerous a big hitting keeper can be once set.. Carey opens the batting and can go big, i'd like to see him given more opportunities leading into the next WC.

Recent inn: 31*, 27, 7, 5, 9, 54, 8, 44, 16, 26, 81

He would likely get away with it if he weren’t captain.

More to the point - do you reckon someone like, I dunno, Justin Langer or Warne (or any other previous senior member of the team that wasn’t captain) let the skipper get away with acting like that?

I’m sure if Waugh or Ponting tried the shit that Smith does they would be told by the rest of the senior teammates to pull their heads in.

Was anyone here in the members stand on day 5 of the test against India in Jan '92, when Border sent Reiffel out to field while he made a phone call to Laurie Sawle asking why they've dropped Geoff Marsh and Picked Wayne Phillips (not our one) instead.

Anecdotal reports are that it was one way (from Border) and one of "Captain Grumpy's" better sprays which given the open nature of the old change-rooms would have made confidentiality difficult....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Australian T20 squad: David Warner (captain), Aaron Finch, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Ben Dwarshuis, Travis Head, Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, D'Arcy Short, Billy Stanlake, Marcus Stoinis, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa

Could end up 8, but hope he gets a shot up the top at some stage.

Warner
Finch
Head
Lynn
Short
Maxwell
Stoinis
Carey
Zampa
Tye
Stanlake

Depends on how many overs they want out of head/maxwell/short/finch, they may play another bowler.

1. Warner
2. Short
3. Head
4. Lynn
5. Stoinis
6. Maxwell
7. Agar
8. Carey
9. Tye
10. Zampa
11. Stanlake

Bowling:
1. Stanlake
2. Tye
3. Zampa
4. Stoinis
5. Agar

Don't think Head, Short, Maxwell will bowl very much if at all, and I suspect Finch will miss out. Dwarshuis is the other who probably deserves a crack, potentially plays in place of Zampa.

The 3 exciting prospects to come out of the BBL in the last 2 years are Carey, Short and Turner.

Staggered Turner doesn't get a look in.

Khawaja goes alright in the Big Bash. I'm surprised he's not in that squad.

First game back for the Thunder he showed his class and was head and shoulders above the rest.

Keen to see how Short goes, big gap between the BBL and international cricket that has already left Chris Lynn, Billy Stanlake and Andrew Tye wanting a bit (albeit in ODI cricket).

Australia Under 19's have just defeated England in their World Cup quarter final.

Defending only 127, Australia or should I say Lloyd Pope with the figures of 9.4 overs, 2 maidens, 8 for 35 has bowled England out for 96

He gets a bit of press in the Adelaide Hills paper (The Courier) as I believe he is from Stirling. Leggie, who wouldn't look out of place in a Harry Potter film. Can obviously bowl.
