Don't be surprised if that comes to fruition.

Play 40-45 over games instead of 50, start an hour earlier, more drinks breaks. Sides should have plenty of bowlers they can rotate.

Either that or cancel. Little value in playing T20 games.

I know there is genuine hatred from some cricket fans about Twenty20 but it would seem a common sense compromise to me. Much better than cancelling given the amount of work it takes to get teams ready and organised.

Times change and standards change. Players used to go back on the football ground after they'd been knocked out too.

There were purists who were furious about Kerry Packer and pajama cricket too but life (and the game) goes on. There were probably people outraged when timeless tests bit the dust as well!

I agree its better than no cricket at all, I am certainly not outraged. T/20 is here to stay, but can we please keep it in perspective. When regional comps like the Meyer Shield go this way, albeit not by choice, it just send a shudder up my spine.

Current forecast for the next 3 days for the Strahalbyn, Ashbourne, Langhorne Creek area where the games are being played is
Friday 35C
Sat 41C
Sun 41C

Now i know that the temps have been downgraded a touch from 2 days ago but to change to T20s is ridiculous imo
With those forecast temps, A Grade in A&EHCA would go ahead with the 41C days reduced from 45 to 35 over games

Given that the Meyer Shield in theory consists of the Elite players from around the Fleurieu , these temps shouldn't be an issue.
The original thought was to reduce the games to 40 overs per team, 9.00am start and extra drinks breaks.
That seemed to be a sensible compromise as games would still likely to finish by 2.30 which is still well before the hottest part of the day.
A lot of preparation has been put into this Carnival not only by the participating teams but also the Host clubs and the A&EHCA .
To downgrade it to a T20 comp is a complete over reaction imo.
I guess some players will be rejoicing knowing now they will have the best part of the 3 day break to themselves now but those that were concerned about missing out on that probably didn't make themselves available anyway.
In regards to the heat being a player safety issue, i daresay the number of of players that get on the gas the night before the games and present themselves in a dehydrated condition poses more of a risk factor than a bit of physical activity on a warm day.

I seriously think this comps days are numbered when it starts going down this path.

Well said JJ. Fair point about the grog, having played in a couple of carnivals I can vouch there is no shortage of it being consumed!

No invitational since Southern folded. Back to 6 sides.

TVCA to play HCA in tomorrow's final.

TVCA finished just 1 run ahead of MTCA, while HCA pipped AEHCA by 4 runs.

No

Good effort from TVCA to make the final, albeit in this revised T20 format. HCA will be a good test.

TVCA were restricted to 7/92 off their 20 overs

Hills lost 2 early wickets in their chase but a half century to Hayden Reid steered them home. 3/93 off 18 overs

After a very mild Friday and a warm Saturday, the reduced T20 format was was eventually justified today as the temp was 41C by the time the match concluded at 11.45am

Will be interesting what policy is put in place in years to come regarding excessive Heat
