For a retired "gentleman"... you work a lot!

Only by choice, my super pension is more than enough. Most sporting/concert gigs I do are 3-5 hours and I very rarely work more than 2 days a week.
This week is a bit different as the Foo Fighters gig was 8 hours and rhe One Dayer on Friday will be longer again. Its actually fun to go to these events and ai feel I shouldnt be paid but acdept it none the less. ;)

A good position to be in. I have another 10 or so years to go before retirement (although some suggest I am semi-retired now!) and I guess you go crazy the first 12-24 months doing all the stuff you always wanted to do.... then what? Some part time work, inline with what you're doing would be a good outlet I guess.

Yeah, a break of doing nothing was great for a while but it gets boring. I enjoy doing something I love (as opposed to 28 years of sitting in an offfice like I did)
I also want to be in a position where my partner gets to retire or at least go oart time, she only hits LSL this year.

People that queue at petrol stations just so they can have their petrol tank on the same side to the bowser, many times Ive driven to the wrong side, stretched the hose over the back of the car, filled up, paid and left and they are still waiting.

I am 59, took a package 6 months ago. Plan to live off that till I am past my 60th Birthday. Out of interest, how do you draw a Super pension at 47? Tax implications?

No tax implications, it was just the nature of my super which I was very lucky to join. There was no age restrictions, the only restriction was I could only take my own contributions up to the end of 99 and all else had to be taken as a pension. If I was 55 I could have taken it all as a lump sum.
In refard to tax I was actually suprised at how little of my package was taxed.

Is it the old Commonwealth Super?
I paid no tax on my separation payment, only my Annual and LSL component.

Yep, the original PSS Super (a different version was introduced in the 90s) I had the choice of staying in the old CSS but glad I didn't now as would have been penalised in that one for retiring before teenage of 55.
