Any of you recall the story of Robert Harvey jumping off a table to snap the tendon?

My brother in law was advised to do the same thing. Apparently it heals quicker that way.

I was told that if you jump off the table and snap it you will never hav that issue again.

I've had it for 20 years. I doubt 6 weeks will fix it but with orthapedics and a good medical team behind him he will learn to play through it.
I'd expect him to play round 1.

You know Tex hasn't got gout, right?

Different pain and different part of the foot. I suffer from both.
Had heaps of problems with my feet since I was born probably having something to do with being born with my feet facing outwards and requiring a brace for 6 months as a baby.

Planter fasciitis is bloody painful.

Didn't think much of the format but good to the see the young guys get a run around.

Ellis Yolmen looked like a beast out there which was good to see, could potentially play a role this year in the midfield. Alex Keath mainly used in the forward half was interesting, wonder if this is new position for him or just for the ALFX, presented well though.

Don't take anything out of those AFLX games mate. Glorified uncontested circle work.

It was good to see CEY and Hampton and Cheney get a good hitout though. Having those three pushing for selection every week significantly helps our depth

Triple M stuffed up a press release accidentally naming Sloane as captain instead of Tex. They corrected it soon after. Interesting gaff though...
Pyke has come out today and endorsed Tex to remain capt and won't use capt as a carrot to entice Rory to stay.
Normal vote process to happen in the next couple weeks.

IMO, I would not be surprised if Rory gets voted in, although after what Pyke said today that clearly is not going to happen...

Will be interesting to see what happens, I wouldn't have thought there would be too much in the way of changes unless Tex's injury was long term

Who would the Crows supporters on here have as their captain?
Sloane appears to me to be a better option than Tex.

You want your captain to stand up in the big moments and Tex has rarely done this.
Sloane has done this several times from the games I’ve seen.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Personally I thought they would have originally gone with Sloane, but I also think the way Tex led the club during the Phil Walsh tragedy showed he was more than capable.

And whilst he had a terrible grand final, Tex stood up plenty of times during the season and still kicked 54 goals

Sloane showed that he could get tagged out of it and have limited influence sometimes too

Overall I would he happy with either

Happy with either and it wouldn't still surprise me to see Sloaney and Tex voted in as co-captains this year.

Tex has the respect of the players and he wouldn't have been voted best captain by his peers the last 2 seasons if he wasn't a good captain IMO.

We are lucky enough to have Sloane in the midfield and Talia down back as very good leaders.

I dont get why clubs wait until the eve of the season to name their Captains/Leaders, surely these guys need to be named early on so they can lead the group through the pre-season, possibly the most critical part of the season.

Most clubs have a players vote to see who's captain.
With the player turnover so high (avg 6-8 per year?), you're asking these new people to vote on a leader they know nothing about.
No doubt the existing leadership group from the previous year will lead the preseason until a new vote is made.

I believe the players vote and then the coaches rubber stamp the decision and the size of the leadership group etc.

Not voting until close to the season let's other players rather than the captain put there hand up and show leadership, set training standards and expectations. No doubt the previous years leaders still lead during this period, you don't forget overnight how to lead.

I agree with Dutchy

Stupid they wait until the last week or two.

Walker named the best captain in the AFL last two years by the other teams, stupid it is even being discussed
July 11th 2012....
