Is there a method behind the pretty stripes or is it purely for show.

I've heard apparently it makes a difference on Golf courses but wasn't sure for cricket or footy purposes

They'll be up for it at Glenelg, just needs a bayonet to drag 'em in.

Mainly is for looks, although there are advantages of cutting in straight lines opposed to a circular cut.

Sports like golf can be affected because the turf has been pushed a certain way. Can make the ball roll faster or slower

Great work mate, Alberton has always been the best surface in the SANFL. My Dad used to say that too from when he played on it in the 50s.

You're the Jarryd Hayne of safooty.net

Played on Norwood oval last year too. Was pretty good. Feels like it slopes towards the western grandstand though.

I played numerous mini-league games on it through the early 80's. My Uncle's best mate was the Mini-League coordinator and we'd sit up in the back row of the Williams Family Stand with the smell of linament coming up through the gaps in the floor and wall.

Often they'd be short and little ( I was, once upon a time ) Boon would always be there prepared with shorts, socks and boots. In fact I wore my full kit quite often, lace up guernsey and all. I didn't play many away games as his role diminished as the home teams coordinator took over.

I wore an onion on my belt at the time.

Didn't ask for your life story mate.

Also, my discman with Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory got stolen from my bag in the grandstand while I played. That was a dark day. It pushed me one step closer to the edge.

But in the end, it didnt even matter.
