Better Uni raiding from interstate/overseas rather than from other grade clubs I guess

Proposals to be put in to limit Overseas players, other States have a points system, maybe we need one here too. Think Uni had 4 playing at one stage!

Hope TTG and Port win the next two Sundays!

Hopefully Adelaide win the Two Day comp, they are following West Torrens lead by developing their young talent from their Juniors, we won with all WT Juniors bar Drennan, think Adelaide would be pretty similar. Sturt are the other team giving their talented Juniors a go.

Clubs would be stupid to propose this. Be careful what you wish for.

Limit the imports and Uni will be forced to go hard at the best 18-20 year olds in the competition.

Funding should be strongly tied to producing talented players though. Not exactly sure how

Exactly, when the other clubs block uni's attempts to develop their own juniors, then block the number of imports, they will have no option but to poach!

Only non Junior to play First Grade this season is Brad Dingle. Even then it's only been a handful of games and he's been there forever....

They poach already Trader  , and are developing them really well, 2 young spinners one averages 6 overs a game and the other only gets 4 overs with 300 on the board, bit hard to develop as a player when you aren't bowling :? Guess you have to get bang for your buck while the players are here 8)

Uni are poaching from everywhere. They had a Southerns junior on debut Saturday. If you get kids from other clubs to give them opportunities then so be it. Some clubs have better catchment and junior areas than others. That’s just life.
What annoys me is when clubs like uni poach kids then put these kids in the 2’s and don’t develop them and put overseas players on there head.
Port have a lot of Woodville players but they have developed them from B’s to good A graders. Fair play.
Woodville have done much the same in my books as look at how good Dickman has been this season and McDowell who is a West Torrens junior is becoming a pretty handy cricketer.

Uni have gone and got Harms and Edwards to name a few as top up players. Those blokes are learning absolutely nothing in the B’s. That is wrong

They are going to poach anyway (and do so) offer cash and sign interstate/overseas players as they don't have a junior set up. Get juniors or play ATCA IMO.

To get juniors it requires 12 club delegates to suck up a bit of pride and vote to allow them have a junior set up that University craves.......numerous proposals have been put forward by the Bookworms only to be knocked back by the clubs that already have them!

Those "West Torrens posters" just did not want Uni coming into West Torrens area to play Juniors, especially when they were looking to get rid of us from the comp.

Let Uni have juniors, see how hard it is to maintain and how much work it is, I think deep down they don't really want them even though they say they do.

What today showed is SACA have to fix their Bylaws for 20/20 games with regard to rain. How the Duckworth Lewis system was not used is hard to understand. TTG probably still win, but Uni were severely disadvantaged.

And I think our Club brought up last year why their is no Player of the Match in the Grand Final like the other two comps. Matt Weaver would have won it, his batting was brilliant and he took the game right away from Uni with his clean hitting.

Even the commentators on the live stream were talking about the DLS and what the scenario would be, so to not be put into play is interesting.

Thought the conditions yesterday may have assisted 3 of the Uni batsmen

TC, I think it would more likely be the Mat Weaver medal, he has owned this competition for the last 7 years, hence 5 flags in that period. No BOG medal required, game too short, Gillespie Medal adequate for competition.

Question for you TC, if Uni had 3 state players available, could / would they have fielded a team of Zero South Australians. Would be an interesting reunion in 10 years. Not my idea of a club, but obviously others disagree.

Back to yesterday's game
1. Match appointment based on tokenism rather than the best available, made 1 decision, 100% wrong, proved by live stream replays.
2. DL is required, by law upgrade.
3. 13 overs bowled by Uni in an hour 10, disgraceful, and no it wasn't raining.
4. TTG with their ageing senior group totally outplayed Uni.

Would have thought TTG have other issues with the umpiring fraternity than need to be worked on rather than worrying about GF appointments.....

Some very good points Bulls!!

Eloise just guessed that run out, Gatting was clearly in and she just panicked. Think she is a good umpire, but similar to AFL with Eleni, only getting a gig because of gender which is wrong.

Duckworth Lewis a must. Apparently the total would have only increased to 118, which still seems low as Uni would have potentially got to 140 odd.

Uni bowling slow, speak to Port!! In the Semi got down to last over, they deliberately bowled slow so they were batting in the dark, is basically cheating. Umpires have no penalty they can give, By laws need changing on that too.

Disagree on Medal, the 20/20 comp will grow bigger and bigger with Big Bash taking over, Weaver not a bad call to honour someone like him.
