Then the rumours that Phil & Nick Hall + Ben Fuller are heading back to Central United, Burns retiring, Brooks + Tippett back to Kilburn and who knows what Ben Grose will do.. a lot of players to replace.

Add Tippett, Brooks, Wright (Kilburn) to that clearance list.. are there any A graders left at Brahma?!

Brooks denied again....surely he wouldn't owe any money

Brahma have a history of denying clearances don’t they? The more they deny blokes the less chance they have getting them back in the future imho.

I don't know why anyone would sign a contract before January 31, sure;y you'd test the waters of the new year first and make sure it's what you wanna do, I know it's good from a club perspective to have players locked in but it isn't the AFL, more so in the lower grades where things can turn to shit overnight.

There's no such thing as contracts in general. Unless there was money or other assets exchanged between club and player. How is signing a contract deemed that it holds that player to the agrrement made on the contract. So in short if a player signs a contract. Yet no money or assets have been exchanged. Then he should be allowed to sign elsewhere. Obviously if money or assets have been exchanged then he has to see out the terms of that contract. If that makes any sense. Which I know you all will be ready to say something funny to this post.

They've withheld many players over the years after they signed on for the next season at presentation night.

They are set in concrete at Brahma, perhaps not in the eyes of the player though.

Ian Bellman and Trent Payne spring to mind immediately.

Only criticism is the over-use of full stops, a well constructed piece otherwise.

All bullshit aside, there is no sign-on fee anymore so there would not be an exchange of assets or cash.

Once a player signs a contract they are pretty much locking themselves in to playing at said club, you must remember that clubs have to target the type of players they need and have a salary cap to which they have to work with so they want to plan early.

I reckon if you're stupid enough to sign a contract well in advance of the following season, then you deserve to be held to it. About time a lot of these guys who get paid good money to play were held to account .

All I am saying is that contracts and promises don't mean anything today. And I agree that clubs are trying to organise theirs lists for the season. But if no money has been exchanged then really there is not much they can do. When it comes to making a player see out the contract.

I think this attitude reflects society and its why we live in a word where a mans word is no longer his bond. My one pet hate is for some to agree to something and then change their mind when something better comes along. Make a commitment and stick it out. Sometimes the hard times are what makes or breaks a person. I agree that a club needs to live up to its promise but an individual cant cry foul if it gets a bit tough and hard. Every paid player at a club has an obligation to make it a better place and give something back.

"After much deliberation, the BLFC would like to inform its players, the club and Joss Den Engelse have parted ways. This was not an easy decision to make, particularly at this time of the year, but it was one that needed to be made due to a number of reasons. Reasons I am happy to discuss with you personally (04** *** ***) and our playing group at training tomorrow night.

The Club is moving swiftly to find a new coach and will inform you of that outcome as soon as we can!

Cheers, and have a great day!"
