Over the long weekend watched 'The Polka King,' a Netflix-produced movie based on a true story in which Jack Black plays a US polish immigrant seeking to achieve the American dream by running a Ponzi scheme. Not bad, although a bit shallow. Black is quite entertaining as the heavily-accented but charming protagonist, and our own Jackie Weaver has a role as his mum-in-law (who rather annoyingly ends up shouting a lot).

Also watched 'A Futile and Stupid Gesture', which is another Netflix film about a bloke called Doug Kenney, who was one of the guys behind the National Lampoon magazine and films like 'Animal House' and 'Caddyshack.' Worth a look if you're into the origins of American satire and humour as it developed through the 1970s, and going stars like Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, and John Belushi etc got started.

After being nagged by my wife to watch it, I finally screened a few eps of this last night (The Entire History of You from S1, Hang the DJ from S4). Really enjoyed it and as you mentioned it's thought provoking. Enjoyed the soundtrack on the Hang the DJ ep also.

Just started the second season of Black Mirror. This is so random but incredibly good. I like how their isn’t any link between each episode except of the technology is the problem.

Yes, very much like the Twilight Zone. “Shut Up and Dance” from season 3 IIRC will make you question how you interact with the internet.

"Babylon Berlin" is definitely worth a go if you're up for some well-produced German jazz-age/Weimar Republic-era intrigue and political conspiracy (and don't mind reading subtitles). Cost nearly $40 million to make (apparently the most expensive television drama series not made in English).

Mrs Hondo had it on for a while, looked pretty out there. I don't think she persisted very long. I'll have a look at some stage but at a quick look I was finding the constant camera cuts a bit distracting. It seemed to be edited like a music video. You'd probably not notice though after a while.

It took 2 full seasons and 4 episodes into the 3rd season an episode of black mirror had some what of a happy ending.

Yep. Really enjoyed it. It was really good.

Also noticing when ever someone sings in an ep it’s the same song every time

It’s the song the girl sings in the talent show.

Loved the first series. Ben Mendelsohn is brilliant in it.
Second series lost me and Mrs DW a bit and by part way through the third I'd lost interest in it and never completed it (may revisit though, just to see how it ends).

"Toast of London" with Matt Berry, who some might know from shows like "The Mighty Boosh" and "Garth Merenghi's Darkplace." Very funny English off-beat comedy about the exploits of a very average middle-aged actor. If you're into slightly off-kilter Pommy comedies, it's for you.

Enjoyable viewing.
As a history nut, I can say you have to take some of it with a grain of salt.
