Some may not see this as viable because triple headers are life but at least it may encourage more income every week at the club BBQ and canteen wise

Most existing clubs that I've encountered are pretty much a separate identity to their senior footy, therefore have their own support staff.

A lot already use the Saturday timeslot.

One thing I've seen over the past few years with the SAWFL is that it is a lot like the AFL with the match schedules, they send out a draft fixture for clubs to look at and then they will barter with the league for possible changes of games that they know they will have troubles with, some clubs announce they will host all their home games at 6pm on a Saturday, there's a lot of give and take.

PNU talking about having Quadruple headers. Would be great for the girls as they will be on 4th and will have a crowd to play in front of and feel part of the club. Could be a few lads on the balcony with some real sparkling repartee after 8 hours of football and a a few shandis.

We do this wherever possible (the quadruple header), even had a quintuple header last year once or twice with our two women's teams on at 5pm and 6.30pm. Creates a much better atmosphere, the girls feel supported and included by the rest of the club with a decent crowd for home games, as the majority of the blokes hang around under the verandah, put some music on and have some beers while having a watch. The girls then come in after their games and we're able to do all 5 teams presos together. Works a treat.

Some clubs without adequate lighting have to play these games at 1pm or 3pm on a Sunday, would get nowhere near the amount of spectators, especially senior male players.

Womens footy is moving quickly at GG - we had a side in Div 5 last season and have now hopefully been moved up to Div 4 to be able to have more players. I am coaching them this season. We Have had in excess of 24-26 players train in 6 sessions before Christmas with more to come out in the next few weeks. The girls cant seem to train enough. We haven't had any discussions about trainers and umps etc - oval space is definitely an issue training's Mondays and Thursdays with a 7pm start to make room for all the seniors and juniors. This should be OK.

Have seen the GG girls train on a couple of Tuesday nights and always seem to have good numbers and good skill, oval space is a issue when the football club forgets there is a cricket there training that use it as well lol

Anyone know why North Pines would deny all the women's clearances to MawsonLakes? Surely if your not going to have men's footy and the girls want to play you would let them go?

Unsure if they are but these girls want to join Mawson lakes so cant see why they would hold them to the 3 player clearance rule.

Because they are probably clutching at straws and trying to keep at least one team alive so they don't have to try and gain re-entry into the league?

Has North Pines definitely gone tits up in the men's league?

West Adelaide have relocated to Fitzroy

From Facebook:
*Important Information in regard to the amateur club name change announcement

Good Morning All

This morning you may have seen our update in relation the West Adelaide Women's Football Club (WAWFC) our change of name and new training ground. We will now be known as the Fitzroy Women’s Football Club, I just wanted to reassure you all in relation to the change and what it will mean for you all.

This change will have no impact on the current West Adelaide Football Club Women’s (WAFCW) SANFLW team as we have always operated as completely separate entities, one of the reasons the transition will happen so easily. For those who are currently representing WAFCW in the SANFLW and who play at other amateur league clubs there really is no difference at the end of the SANFLW season you will go back to your clubs and play on.

As an amateur league club the WAWFC have loved being at Westies and there are no issues with the club that have forced this decision and I would like to let you all know that they are happy for us but very disappointed we are leaving. A small part of the reason for leaving is to remove confusion surrounding our name and association with a SANFL club.

For new and current players to our club we will still compete in the Division One competition with an A and Reserves team. It is a name change and new training venue the club culture is strengthened with this partnership as we will be very much a part of a club who share our sense of community. In the coming weeks more information will flow about planned events. Players wishing to come to our club are very welcome and we work under the same transfer rules as all other Adelaide Footy League teams.

The players unanimously support this decision and we are very excited about the opportunities of being involved with Fitzroy Football Club. There are support and committee roles that we need to fill immediately and I hope you or your family and friends consider being a part of our club off the field as well.

We used the Fitzroy training ground and club rooms last year and they were fantastically supportive of our team. This began talks about the future of the WAWFC with the expansion of the SANFLW and securing their long term future in the amateur competition given their history with the Women’s League.
In relation to capacity Fitzroy have two nights available for the women’s team to train. This suits our desire to train and compete at the division one level. Monday is an exclusively women's training night and on Wednesdays we share for a very short time with a country team who were also fantastic last year.

If you have any questions please speak to me directly. Thank you all

Kind Regards

Glenys

North Pines should just concede and let the ladies play footy where they want to.

Ironbank winners last night in the top of the table clash with Mount Barker under lights at Barker. Think it’s Div 6 or something that is made up of hills teams, Aldinga & a team from Murray Bridge. Long way to go but the Thunderer girls look a little too good for this division.
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!

They were the top ranked Hills side last season in a higher division.
