Congrats lad, my most memorable outright was in A2 turf, four of our blokes had been choofing before the game (our skipper was pulled over by the police on the way to the game and had avoided detection by hopping straight out of his car). The opposition were doing drills an hour before the start, we were either stoned or nursing hangovers (or just lazy), knocked em off by about 20 runs and couldn't stop laughing as their coach went off his tits at them. Lost outright a couple of weeks later against an ordinary opposition and the skipper lost his shit, whilst teeing off on us (which we deserved) chucked a golf ball against the ball that nearly decapitated a couple of us.

That's usually when my attention turns from cricket/SAfooty to the night ahead (chasing women).

A few games later there were about 6 blokes on the pipe, one of them hit a ball that hard it bounced off a gumtree on the boundary and ended up back on the pitch. I've played district cricket but I've never seen a ball hit that hard.

Taking the day off tomorrow to spend some time with my lad and his fiancé. Plans so far, bit of a sleep in, bacon and eggs breakfast, head up to Daylesford- lad wants to check out a cricket bat place, spot of lunch.... perfect.

I was so, so unwell on Friday that I couldn't make it into work.

Fortunately I was well enough to go out in the boat with my brother and get 26 crabs, 5 squid, 6 tommies and 4 whiting though.

A miraculous recovery, no doubt thanks to the healing waters of Gulf St Vincent (St Vincent being the patron saint of taking sickies, IIRC).

Without question. By a sheer stroke* of luck I also managed to find a cooler bag with several frosty cold lagers on the vessel, these were a timely find as around 9:00 am I felt my hydration levels dropping rapidly. Dodged another one there I can tell you.

Mandatory safety equipment. In case of emergency, crack the tubes. ;)
