Surely there’s someone better than Dalton who can open? He must have incriminating photos of the selectors

here's a question for everyone

why do we even persist with a Kookaburra ball?

Its pretty obvious it is inferior to the Dukes ball, and that the Dukes helps to even the balance between bat and ball

Didnt seem that long ago the Redbacks got bowled out for 29 against NSW using a Kookaburra
WA all out the other day for 67 with the Dukes ball so it that too much of an advantage?
Im sure theres more pressing issues in cricket than worrying about the ball

Anyone who has ever played grassroots cricket has seen blokes in all grades hoop the ball around, what's wrong with teaching blokes how to swing the ball?

Having said that, I think you either can or you can't in many respects and the focus on speed for some years has seen the art of swing bowling fall away from a student and teacher aspect. Blokes like Damien Fleming should be coaxed out of the commentary box and into the nets at the Academy.

they have used the Dukes ball for roughly half of the last few seasons anyway.

Would be interesting to see what the difference in scoring actually is, and whether it is a perception or reality that it helps the bowlers as much as we think it does

The second half of 2016/17 was the first time it was used, this is the second summer we've used the ball for the second half of the season.

Can we risk looking at opening with Carey once he's back. Bancroft opened and was wicketkeeper this season. Not ideal
But a better option than dalton/smith imho.

Carey weatherald Ferguson head boof cooper ross

Looks more dangerous than.

Open with Nielsen :O ???

Or Carey???

Dalton two starts this game. Probably needed to go on with one of them.

Dalton is young, burst onto the scene last year and had instant success, understandable to think he would go through a lean period and struggle to replicate that form. Stick with him through the season, he will be better for it in the long term, and you never know he might just turn a corner.

They say it takes a few years to adapt to first class cricket from grade cricket, he's played every game so far, may as well see it out.

Plenty of starts there too. Havent really seen him play but i would guess that if he turned one of those into a big score he wont look back

Have they written off Smith or will he get one more chance?

If Cooper hadn’t have got that century, he would’ve been on the chopping block.

It’s a choice of Dalton or Nielsen/Valente/Mennie batting at 7 and move Cooper to open.

I’d like to see Carey at 5.

Nielsen started well, but we are yet to see if he is capable enough of playing as a specialist batsman only still, only 2 games in, reckon jury is still out.
