Not dissimilar and that correlation has been made before.

Do you reckon I'd tap old Gertrude on the shoulder after she bellows "just bloody kick it" and point out to her that in fact, they're switching the ball to the other side to get around the press and that she really should study up on the finer details before commenting?

No. Of course I wouldn't.

But I would roll my eyes and subtly smirk at my mate next to me.

But enough about me and more about how terrible all your predictions are.

Don't you know that a team from the bottom 8 finishes in the top 4 the next year at some sort of scary rate?

That's not the bottom eight, that's the bottom 10.

So it's happened 3 times over the last half decade? (Hopefully that is an acceptable timeframe morell?)

Or to put it another way, 3 of the 50 teams outside the 8 have done it over the last half decade.
Therefore, to try and predict the 6% side over the 94% of sides that don't do it would be going out on a limb.
The statistician stays with the 94% chance.

It happens 60% of the time.
But only 1 of the 10 teams has done it.
So to predict the specific team that will do it this year is 6%.
