Just gotta get first use of it. The quickest midfield on paper is made to look slow if they’re chasing all day...

Its a little slow but a decent enough first choice midfield.

The depth doesnt seem to be there though.

To slow to get out of the way, lacks leg speed!

Would both be in the top 3 earners this year in the whole comp along with Ben Brown. all probably on 2m a year, cap has to be spent somewhere, what a time to be alive at North.
For Tarrant and Brown to sign on for so long they must know something, Sloane and Lynch on the way in??

you answered your own question - they sign for so long because no other club would give them the same coin that they can get at north

As much as I’d like Sloane we’re not short on quality in & under mids in their late 20’s (Ziebell & Cunnington).
We need to target Lynch with Waite retiring next year & also go after McGovern to replace Thompson.

What are they on, Benny? I sure as hell don’t know.
North have shown tremendous faith in Tarrant with so many injuries early in his career & he has stated numerous times he wants to repay that.
We also threw Higgins a lifeline when he was at the crossroads after leaving the Dogs, he too wants to repay the club. Both are now senior players & are also in the leadership group. Sure the coin’s a factor, but it’s not the only factor for them staying.

They are a couple of the very few elite players on your list, so it stands to reason they will be on the best coin. Along with ziebell

Great signs, North have probably the best player retention in the AFL in recent years, can't think of a player leaving that we wanted to keep since Gibson years back.

Interesting really. Wouldn’t think of too many other players that extend their contract before they even play! Must have impressed the hierarchy there.

Frampton extended without playing a game, SPP was under 10 games when he extended, quite a few at Brisbane also IIRC.

We are required to pay 95% of cap and if we have $2m in space there are going to be some very well paid players this season, why not lock away the obvious talent?

I can't think of many players that other clubs would genuinely have wanted to head hunt, that sure helps your player retention.

Off the top of my head, let’s see...
Mason Wood was chased by numerous clubs before re-signing, as was Braydon Preuss, Trent Dumont & also Jy Simpkin. Ben Cunnington & Jack Ziebell both turned their backs on free agency & extended their contracts despite plenty of interest from “bigger” clubs.
Nah, I can’t think of many recently either

Wow some big names in that list!

Mason Woods... decent footballer, i'll give you a well done on keeping him but most clubs have more than one like him so not a big effort to hang onto him

Preuss, Dumont and Simpkin?! Please enlighten me on the clubs queuing up to poach this trio??

Cunnington and Ziebell... yep, again a couple of ok players. But we're hardly talking the top echelon of talent here are we? Hardly going to get into a bidding war over any of these.

We weren’t talking big names originally, remember? You asked which players were head hunted by other clubs, I named them. Maybe google when they re-signed & the interest shown.
I’m sorry if the Advertiser or 5AA didn’t report it.
