On the ABD run out.

Yep Warner was carrying on like a tard.... initially I thought it was directed towards the crowd..... or the area of the ground in which a crowd could have been, had there been one.

Lyon, yep dropped the ball right next to ABD, rather than flick it to the ump, which is the done thing nowadays. I didn't think there was much in it myself.

But your cool with someone " accidentally" injuring Lyon's spinning hand. Glad you're not involved in our association

No what I'm saying is I could understand if the Saffers decided to take matters in their own hands. I'm one of the easiest going blokes you will meet on a cricket field (never been suspended or reported in my life) but if you want to be king dickhead you have to expect someone else might take it a step further.

If the saffers did attempt something Lyon could sit there and cry foul

Warner is clearly king. ;)

Now footage has emerged of Warner being restrained by team mates as he made a be line for Quinton deKock off the field either after the days play or during a break, was certainly fired up, might be time to put this clown on the plane home

Playing all 3 codes has fried his brain even more, go have a break with the family son.

How good would it have been to see the Cock land one on his gonk, he was obviously being a pillick judging by his team mates, no one else was interested in sticking up for him or even look slightly perplexed.

I get the want and almost the need (especially against the saffers who are pea hearts) to play 'unsociable' cricket but there does have to be a line drawn somewhere and at the moment I reckon our team is crossing it.

Have we ever had such a talented side who were so unlikeable even from an Aussie perspective.

Never before!

Personally cant stand:
Warner
Smith
Mitch Marsh

Don't mind but wouldn't get out of bed to watch:
Shaun Marsh
Tim Paine
Usman Khawaja
Cam Bancroft

Who is beginning to get on my nerves:
Nathan Lyon

A bloke blocks one back down the pitch to him and his right arm goes up in some sort of semi-appeal to the umpire. Yeah, not out and get on with it.

Perhaps Dekock has been playing with Warners Candy?

My list is almost identical except for I have Smith in my 'beginning to get on my nerves list'

Really disappointed in Lyon of late, honestly reckon the hype has gone to his head.

My thoughts precisely, has an air of arrogance about him of late and then when I see him chewing his gum, smiling smugly I just want to slap him.

This is Starcs value to the team, late reverse swing with the old ball.
Id love one of the stats gurus to find his stats of his dismissals of 1-6 or 7 and 7-11. Obviously the average will be better against the tail but the percentage of wickets in each category would be telling compared to other bowlers

Rabada gone Starc on a hatrick, youd fancy it against Morkel

this is Starc's and Hazlewood's statistics for each bowling position

Interestingly they both take about the same proportion of wickets from 7-11 - Starc 36.8%, Hazlewood 37.3%

You can see hazelwood is much more consistent through the middle of the innings, but they still have pretty similar overall averages, which tells me starc bowls a lot less through the middle overs - which makes sense as this is when the ball wouldnt swing as much so starc usually takes a break

Starc

Hazlewood

If im interpreting it right Starc has a much bigger average against the top 6 than Hazelwood which goes someway to backing up my instincts that he struggles against the top class batsman at Test level but his value is in cleaning up the tail with an old ball.

How do the "spans" start in different years when aligned to a batting position on the list?

Starc is an impact bowler who bowls shorter spells. While he might not get as many early over wickets, It’s his intimidation that can get wickets at the other end. I reckon Hazelwood loves waxing with him.

I am loving our pace attack right now. Been a long time coming.

My guess - starc started in 2011 but didn’t get a batter batting in position 2 out till 2012 etc

Added their averages up manually, for openers, middle order, lower order, and tail

Sorry about the handwriting :)

You can see starc really doesn’t do well against the middle order.

My guess is that the quality of the ball is critical to starc doing well.

If it’s not swinging he is in trouble for the better bats.

Hazlewood on the other hand has the accuracy to trouble the best bats even when the ball isn’t doing much
