Brian McMillian on the 94 tour at Durban (ironically) IIRC from previous players telling that anecdote.

"Thousands of people go missing in South Africa each year AB......" or words to that effect as he put his pistol down in front of Border at the lunch table...

yeah that sounds right, i couldnt quite remember the details

Well, we'll toss* the coin Friday night and either Warner will have the pads on and be under the microscope or he'll be at mid-off and the microscope will be on Smith and the umpires to keep him in check. Can't wait!

McMillan was a very tough character. You got that impression just from watching him play.

I remember on the '93-94 tour (channel your inner 12th Man Tony Greig when you read that ;) ) sitting on the fence for about an hour on day 4 of the Adelaide test and listening to him chat that whole time.

Nothing untowards, all positive supportive directed at his team mates or picking out our batting technique "flaws" but you could see he liked to "be involved" all the time with his voice. :D
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yep and when he played Australia he was rubbish more often than not. McMillan was the stereotypical Saffer.

Wouldn't mind seeing his stats, I liked the guy,

I think the Saffers have been very similar to us after a couple of years back from exile, only difference is that we've been more polished in the big games, I admire their grit in test matches and the players they've produced, I've disliked more Aussie players in the past 15 years than Saffers.

The 12 I'd go with in my time.

For an allrounder, though, it's not too bad - the batting, in particular.

Tend to agree. Kohli is a hard core flog. Warner is just not that bright.

On the above I really liked Hansie Cronje as a player and captain. He was a scapegoat for what went on world wide in that era and into this day do feel for him somewhat. Also rated Alan Donald very highly (Donald in my opinion was heavily involved with match fixing in that 99 WC Semi Final however I strongly suspect).
