Given the results go the way they should over the coming weeks, do not be surprised when B.Mcmullen is playing div 1 cricket at eastern park next season! In saying that, if mcmullen is on board (which is basically 100% done deal as long as EP and riverside swap divs) another deal was made between a few of the boys that includes B.woodward also coming across to EP

Many people might not believe the 2 of them will leave the clubs they have given their heart and soul to for many years, but don’t be surprised when it all unfolds before next season given the results over the next few weeks fall in place the way they probably should

McMullen I believe, I actually thought he was rumoured to be moving on this year from Riverside? I worry Riverside might fall in a bit of a heap too, their B grade have been a rabble last few games, haven't even fielded a full side and just straight out over the season.

Woody is an interesting one, if Central United go to Grade 1 as expected, it's harder to see him leaving the Units to go to Eastern Park, but then again who knows what deals they've all done over the past 6 months!

Despite being a stand out side in D2, i'm not sure Units are capable of going up - especially if they were to lose Woody to EP - he's really the backbone to their side, and they have a lot of guys who are getting on a bit in age.

If Woody goes to EP would Tankard follow?

Just gotta make sure things don't go tits up at Dwight Reserve again mate.

You've had the talent out there to pretty much go all the way, just gotta put the ball, in the hole.

Do you think Nathan Warren is a chance too? I see he got Benny out for not many on the weekend.

Grade 1 Semi Finals
Virginia vs Craigmore - Cast you minds back to Round 2 of the season, Virginia hosted the Blues at the home of the Rams, and on that occasion it was a systematic demolition of the home side by the young Craigmore outfit. The Blues batted most of the day for 209, Ryan Parker with a half century, but overall solid contributions from the entire team. This display was backed up with the ball, rolling the Rams for 94 and then having them 8/77 at the close of the match - narrowly missing out on an outright victory.

Of course Virginia are notoriously slow starters to the season, and as results show, as the season has gone deeper towards finals they've gradually built up, gained in momentum, and found themselves sitting aloft the premiership table. Despite their dominance over most of the season, the Blues will hold no fears of travelling up to Virginia Oval, and will be buoyed by the result back in Round 2.

Scintillating match ups with Lay, Bascombe and Natsias leading the way for the Rams, while a lot will rest on the shoulders of Gebauer, McIver and Parker to negotiate the attack of Warren and Seccafien if the Blues are to score the runs required to win.

Make no mistakes, Craigmore are primed and well positioned to pull of the upset here, and should make for a cracking contest.

Salisbury West v Angle Vale - It was only a few weeks ago that Justin Carmen wound back the clock and ran riot collecting 6/45 against Westies to lead Angle Vale to a big win, and that result should give them plenty of confidence heading into this semi final match up.

Salisbury West deserve to start favourites still in this clash, any side with Trav McIntyre and Davies in it will always be hard to beat. Lewendon has had a good year, and DJ McIntyre & Sewell both capable of taking the game away quickly. Angle Vale will be looking for another Herculean effort from front line quick Carmen to give themselves a chance, and should they be able to restrict Salisbury West enough, the batting depth is there to get the runs.

As with the other Semi Final, this appears to be a ripping match up, and a toss of the coin for the winner. I'll get on the AV bandwagon, and tip Jon Pogas to lead his side to a memorable victory.

Grade 2 Semi Finals
Eastern Park v North Eastern Knights - It's hard to see the Demons slipping up in this match, the Tuckwell / Morris combination is back to its brilliant best, and McIver, Smith and Andrews have done plenty with the ball. However NEK aren't without their own dangerous weapons, and the smaller ground at Dwight Reserve will play into their hands. Mills and Atkins remain as the key wickets for the Knights, both capable of destroying an opposition side on their day with the bat.

Atkins and Ellul will need to do the brunt of the work with the ball as well, and if they can get through the strong top order of the Parkers then anything is possible.

Unfortunately, as previously mentioned, it's hard to see the Demons slipping up, and I would expect the Eastern Park juggernaut to roll on, as they begin to prepare for their return to the top flight.

Central United v Craigmore- Well well, well.. 3 weeks ago you would've said Units comfortably, but the young Blues might have something to say about that, as they upset the more highly fancied Units over the weekend. The little left arm straight breaks of Liddicoat collected 5/42 for the Units to be a clear standout, whereas the Blues had a number of contributors across the board.

Woodward of course looms as the key to this match with bat and ball - if he fires on even just one of the two days, then the Units win, but if he fails.. game on.

Plenty of experience in the Central United side, and for some this may be their last genuine crack at a higher grade premiership and return to Grade 1, that alone should be enough to see that they tick the boxes and get the job done.

Grade 3 Semi Finals
Eyre Royals v North Pines - Royals have remained the stand out side all year, with their depth in batting and bowling proving difficult to overcome. They did however lose to the Redbacks earlier in the year, and North Pines are firing at the right end of the year, and would be disappointed not to have found themselves top 2 with a home final.

Freeman will be a key for the Redbacks with the bat, while veteran Lubcke will also prove a handful. For the Royals they'll look to the experience of Jenner, Keylock, Feltus and Feltus to wear the chunk of the work and set up the result.

Will the Royals get complacent? Can North Pines have a day out and expose them? Could we see an upset on the cards here?

Enfield v Salisbury West - Westies have shot themselves firmly in the foot. Setting a tiny boundary on their large oval proved stupidity as it allowed the Redbacks into the game last week and cost them victory and also their foothold on 2nd place. The trip to Enfield is never an easy one on the large slow Terama ground, and they run into an Enfield side that's just beginning to hit some form.

Opening bowler Channa looks set for a huge finals series, after last week showing his capable with bat in hand as well, blasting a 40 ball 100 which included 10x4's and 9x 6's.

Enfield boast the top 3 bowlers in this div (Channa, Miller, Gully) with almost 100 wickets between them, and will add Rackebrandt to that attack this week who is arguably the best of the lot. Batting is susceptible though and will prove the danger point.

For Westies, the talent is there no doubt, it'll be a matter of who is actually switched on for the game, who wants to apply themselves and of course who hasn't got footy trials.

I think Westies may have run their race, and Enfield should set up a GF show down with Eyre Royals.

Grade 4 Semi Finals
ATCO v Eyre Royals - ATCO have enjoyed life since being pushed back to Grade 4 after Round 1, brushing aside opponents with regular ease as they've flown the year at the top of the ladder. Eyre Royals on the other hand have had an up and down season, but are capable on their day.

Couple of rounds ago ATCO showed just how great the gap between these two sides is though, as they rolled Royals for 125 before amassing 248 dec and claiming another 5 wickets before close of the game.

Burns, Sutton, Corfield, Osborne, Carter - ATCO have a plethora of depth and experience to call on, while for the Royals they'll rely heavily on McQueen and Bartlett to get the job done.

Cant see the Royals winning this one, and ATCO will be playing in the GF next weekend.

Salisbury West v North Eastern Knights - An interesting clash in this match with two sides that are accustomed to playing on small, fast grounds. Westies have led most for the season, with old man McIntyre, Benton and Stevens having strong years with the bat and ball.

NEK aren't without their own solid contributors though, and the experience of Eramo, Holberton, Prisk and Conroy shouldn't be underestimated.

The question will be how the NEK older heads manage two days of cricket, coming from C&CCA wont be used to the Sat/Sun finals setup.

The team who bats first wins this game, toss a coin, this should be a ripper game.

Grade 5 Semi Finals
Enfield v Angle Vale - Despite the gap on the ladder, this match is shaping up to be a fiercely contested one. Saw enough of Angle Vale over the past two weeks to see there is enough there to do damage in this finals series if they can fire. A lot of young talented players - Pharaoh, Dent, Morriss all players for the future, and with Carson, Shaw, K Morriss and Mitchell there is plenty of variety and experience in their lineup.

Enfield have been sloppy the past few games, laziness and complacency creeping in, combined with some very average attitudes, they'll need to come switched on this week or risk experiencing the biggest choke since Port Adelaide failed to fire a shot in the 2003 finals series.

Lose 3 for the semi final, looks like I might have to dust the pads off and have a bat for a change.

ATCO v North Pines - ATCO have dominated large parts of the season and find themselves sitting in second place, they'll head into this match as favourites but will be very nervous. North Pines appear to be their bogey side, and with a full compliment of players available, the Redbacks are hitting their straps at the right time.

On paper looks like it'll be a batting shoot out as Lord, Littler, Knox and Childs go against Sparre, Bates, Schwartz and Perris.

Babaie could prove a key players in this clash, the young Afghan with the extra yard of pace, combining with Sparre and Zuodar could run through the strong ATCO batting lineup.

Should be a good game, the winner could well go all the way.

A bit of irony, Virginia posted 209 this time.

Ryan Parker not playing obviously hurt but the Virginian stalwart's just continue to find ways to get the job done and now get to host the big dance, Craigmore were looking the goods until around the 45 over mark when it all started to turn pear shape as Secca's and Warren teamed up to dismiss Dyl.

Shaun Lay saved the day as he provided the backbone and others chipped in to post a competitive total, I'll back either Johnny or Al to step up in the GF.

Craigmore have a wonderful future ahead of them for the next 10 years, all of their players are under 25 and most are products of CCC juniors, a very similar mould to what Westies have done for so long and now the Blus have a stronger junior system than their nemesis.

Suicidal today.. **** cricket!

Congratulations to Angle Vale in Grade 5, did the simple things right, bowled good areas, fielded well and batted patiently. Thoroughly deserved the win.. it's a bitter pill to swallow having such a strong season and then producing arguably our worst performance of the year at the wrong time of the season, but that's life, and now it's footy season!

As you would be and that's how they've always rolled. I would've opened the bowling with Matty Feltus and Kenty on day one, at least the two sides going to Grade 2 next season will be A grade teams and probably where North Pines should be again.

Are you counting chickens before they've hatched?

Eyre Royals auto promotion for minor premier, so only the premier will be the promoted.. Enfield at home is a tough proposition. Best bowling attack in the div, I've been telling you this all year lol.

Don't be so certain. Enfield started slow, missing players and form but slowly on the improve.. since Round 1 when Salis West were 4/195 our A grade have taken:

6/13 (close out innings) & 10/82 (nearly got the reverse outright)
10/189 & 3/56 (vs Eyre Royals who are streets ahead)
10/71 & 10/85 (vs Central United)

Arguably the best bowler in the club, Todd Rackebrandt, is expected to return in the next couple weeks (been working).. no side will have a bowling line-up as deep as Enfield's once full strength.

Told ya so..

Not at all, reads both ways I guess "should be again", not "will be again".

You guys still fit in to the "A Grade" team in Grade 2 category.
