Angus Rowntree retired due to injury :

It is with great sadness the Woodville West Torrens Football Club wishes to advise all it members, sponsors and supporters that Angus Rowntree have decided to retire.

After undergoing a third knee reconstruction in 2017 Angus has cited a desire to concentrate on the next stage of his life including the running of his expanding carpentry business and most importantly his life with wife Paula and son Axel.

After coming through the junior system Angus debuted in Round 1 2009 playing 102 games in which he was awarded two Club Champion awards in 2012 and 2015. Angus’s trademark aggression and competitiveness around the contest is what made him so special.

On reflection of his decision Angus noted “This has not been an easy decision to make but this is the end of the road for me, the past 11 years this has been my home and a massive part of my life. Over this time I have experienced great memories and made wonderful friendships that will continue to grow. I can’t thank enough all those involved with the Eagles for your tremendous support throughout my career and look forward to watching the boys from the sidelines”

Senior Coach Michael Godden on Angus’s decision ‘It is always hard to see players of Angus’s standing call an end to a career. In 102 games and 3 knee reconstructions it is great testament that he was able to win two Club Champion awards and this reflects on the character and competitor he was. As a coach and the playing group we will miss his passion for the contest and his competitive nature, but are also confident he has shown the way for the younger guys to follow. I wish Angus, Paula and Axel all the best in the future and thank him for is outstanding service to our Football Club”

Please join the Woodville West Torrens Football Club in congratulating and thanking Angus on a great career and we wish Angus and family all the best in life after football.

Dogs under no obligation to clear him so it’s not a done deal yet. I’d be surprised if we cough up the transfer fee they want either

That’s how every club gets around the salary cap. Amazing how many players “work” for club sponsors or members

Yeah but after 15 of them you’d reckon one of them was bang on straight.

Last I heard, they were using white bags with 'Vili's' stamped on them.

That is after the 12 attempts that Chris or James made but injured their arm with the nail gun each time!
